Bryant Sports Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

It was a disappointing weekend for the Bryant Bulldogs. This Friday night the Bryant Men’s Basketball team took on the 15th ranked UConn Huskies at 7 o’clock. After an 18-0 run in the first half, the Bulldogs lead at the break, 34-28. The second half was a different story, as the defending national champions showed their true colors and pulled away late. The final score was 66-53 in favor of the Huskies. Dyami Starks led the Bulldogs with 18 points, while Ryan Boatright led the charge for the Huskies with 24 points. The Men’s basketball team is back in action this Thursday at the Chace Athletic Center against New Hampshire. Meanwhile, the 8-1 football team was in Fairfield, Connecticut to take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers with significant NEC implications on the line. At half time the score was 7-7 with a touchdown for the Bulldogs from Ricardo McCray. The game was a defensive stalemate during the entire second half until, with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, Sacred Heart’s Tyler Dube caught a 24 yard touchdown pass to lift the Pioneers past the No. 21 ranked Bryant University football team. This 14-7 victory gave Sacred Heart their second-straight Northeast Conference regular-season title and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs. The Bryant Bulldogs can still get a share in the regular season title and a possible at large bid with a win this Saturday. This Saturday the Bulldogs will take on the Wagner Seahawks for the final home game of the season at Bulldog Stadium. The senior class will celebrate their senior day and will be honored before the scheduled noon kickoff.
