7 Things That Always Go Wrong around Christmas Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

December, or as we like to call it, Christmas month, carries a lot of expectations. The lead up is almost more exciting than the day itself because we spend 25 days (or more, if you are as obsessed as some of us) planning the holiday. We can all imagine our ideal Christmas: you wake up to a delicate blanket of snow on the lawn, a perfectly decorated tree with presents covered in your name nestled under the boughs, and a glass of eggnog to curl up with next to the fire. But in reality, December is usually month of mishaps. Here are some to look out for.

1. The cat or dog tears down all the ornaments (and the tree)

And mom starts crying because the glass antique ones shatter.

2. The grocery store runs out of eggnog

Get it early or get let down.

3. When you realize it’s Christmas Eve and you forgot to get your grandma a present

You’re never too old to make a card and call it a day, right?

4. Or, you did all your shopping early and it STILL hasn’t come in the mail

Time to invest in Amazon Prime.

5. Mom insists on awful matching photos

Seriously, every year??!?

6. The pretty “White Christmas” ends up looking more like this

Lovely.

7. You have to pretend to love the ugliest gifts ever

Oh, yes, I love this bedazzled velour jacket!

Regardless, it is still a beautiful, fun holiday perfect for spending time with family. Enjoy the festivities!
