The 5 Stages of Grieving Your Summer Tan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Here at Her Campus Bryant, we feel as though losing your summer tan every fall is like the death of your summer best friend. OK- maybe that’s being a little dramatic, but if you love your tan just as much as we do, you will understand!

A tan is the best accessory during the summer months. You might see her for a week or two during spring break, but she won’t truly be back for another year. Losing her is similar to the five stages of grief, because you might as well be in mourning…

Stage 1: Denial

Tanning booths are not your friend. It took us a while to realize this, but who wants to look like a leather couch?

Stage 2: Anger

Who is that ghost in the mirror? Oh it’s just me… At least Halloween is coming up, right?

Stage 3: Bargaining

“So if I don’t go in the tanning booth, can I start spraying?”

Stage 4: Depression

Even Pam knows the struggle of being pale

Stage 5: Acceptance

You may be as white as this kitten, but you are also as cute! Just remember, you are just as beautiful pale as you are tan.

And spray tans can be your friend (if done right)
