Whether you’re 9 or 22 Christmas morning is easily the most exciting morning of the whole year. Ripping open that sweater you picked out on black Friday that was wrapped elegantly by “Santa.” However, we all know the reality of Christmas morning. It begins and ends the same way every single year:
Stage 1: You wake up at the crack of dawn (or 8am) and to you its early, but your parents have probably been up since 5am setting gifts up. You wake your siblings up and force them down stairs to see your gifts.
Stage 2:
You go right for the stocking first because we all know, the best gifts are the stocking stuffers. Filled with your favorite hair products and deodorants.
Stage 3:
You are now taking on the “big gifts.” That Michael Kors bag you hinted at wanted all year long, your favorite Tory Burch sandals, the Lilly dress that you dreamed of for the past three months, and then…… the other gifts get opened.
Stage 4:
The other gifts bring down your mood. They’re sweaters that your mom happened to see and thought “hmmmm I think she would like this.” But chances are they are the most hideous sweaters in the entire planet. You smile and very proudly pretend to “love them.”
Stage 5:
Then you remember that the gifts aren’t “that bad” and you’ll return them for something else you want. You’ve finished opening your gifts and are sad because your gift opening has come to an end. But then you look around at your family and smile because you’re thankful for everything you’ve received this holiday season. THEN you head back to bed because it’s still only 8:45am and all your gifts are opened.
