18 Little Things We Love About Bryant

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

From world renowned academics and career placement, to the picture-esque landscape, we all know the spiel of why you should chose Bryant.  But what about the other things, the beautiful qualities that never made it into guidebooks or tours?  With Thanksgiving around the corner, we decided to say what we are thankful for — all of the itty bitty aspects of Bryant that make it feel like home.

1. When someone plays piano in the Roto

Whether it be during a busy time and the soft notes add to the chaos of class change-over in the way that a soundtrack fits a movie, or music is playing during a quiet lull, we thank whoever sits behind the keys and graces us with music.

2. When Barbara talks to you in Salmo

If you get a little drawing from her it’s, like, the best day at Salmo.

3. Walking over the bridge on a perfect Spring day when the fountain is on

Who doesn’t love a good water volcano?

4. President Machtley’s tweets

Big Dawg’s internet presence is truly iconic.

5. When the trees bloom beautiful white flowers

In the Spring, the trees near Fisher and the pond blossom into perfect white clouds, making us so thankful to attend a school that’s just as pretty as the advertisements say.  Plus, when the flowers start to fall, the photos you can take under the trees are magical.

6. How people almost ALWAYS hold the door for each other

Call it good manners or being trained to always act professionally, there’s something sweet about making sure to check behind you and see if someoe else is coming.

7. How much of the staff (such as cafe and Salmo employees) treat us like family

From Nick at Dunkin’ knowing people’s orders, to the cafe workers making a point to learn our names, everyone within the Bryant community tries to contribute to a stronger sense of home.

8. The cleaning staff decorating freshman halls for holidays

We remember being SO excited when we walked in our halls at the beginning of October to see the common room and bathrooms decked out for Halloween.  It’s these little things that remind us how people care.

9. The vibe of the entire campus during Festival of Lights

Coming together to light candles, play music, and celebrate the most beautiful time of the year is a feeling like no other at Bryant.  The entire Rotunda glows and everyone realizes the beauty of tradions; plus, what better a way to procrastinate right before finals?

10. When music is bumpin’ on a Friday at 3 PM in the spring and everyone is excited

Walking around campus in the spring and witnessing radio wars between the suites is THE BEST way to get you pumped for the weekend.

11. Sitting around the pond with all of your friends

Carry a blanket and get their early to claim your spot, because sprawling on the grass with your BFFs, some music, and the sunshine (and a drink, LBR) is the best way to cope with Spring Fever.

12. If there’s something fun going on in the Roto between classes

*cough* Her Campus Birthday Party *cough*

13. Tupper spottings!

No matter how much of a rush you’re in, you have time to give him a pat on the head.

14. How the dome looks at night / in the rain / all of the time

Leaving the Uni late at night sucks, but walking through to see the dome in the pitch black is so cool.

15. Thanksgiving Salmo

Pie!  Decorations!  The promise of the upcoming break!  Dining services gets pretty excited for this one, and steps up the game a bit, which is highly appreciated.  It’s such a cute way to get us pumped for the holiday.

16. Your favorite spot

We all have that one place on campus that we love to go (and might seem like our little secret).  It’s the go-to for homowork, destressing, or just feeling at home.

17. Getting an email from the Post Office

Everyone loves getting packages, even if it is just our text books.

18. Walking through the path from the Uni to the Library

SO Insta-worthy (especially in the fall).
