Even though we love math, there are times when being a math major can be too overwhelming.

1. Receiving an audible groan and a “Good for you, I suck at math and could never do that!” when you reveal your major.

We get it, math is hard.

2. People believing you are actually Albert Einstein himself.

For some reason, if you reveal you are semi-decent at math, people believe you are next level smart and have unlocked the secret to life with infinite knowledge. We are regular college students just like you, and face our own academic challenges including, yes, math!

3. Spending 45 minutes on a problem…and still not getting the right answer.

There is nothing more infuriating and time consuming than trying to work through a math problem you do not understand.

4. People interrupting you in the midst of a problem.

We do not mean to be rude or snippy, but we have multiple math processes going on in our head, and you just distracted our train of thought!

5. Forgetting how to write a decent essay.

What do you mean there is not a single, right answer?

6. Having to put simple math into a calculator “just to make sure”.

Better safe than sorry, right?

7. Making stupid mistakes on an exam.

It is so easy to miss a negative sign or simply add wrong which will throw off the whole answer.

8. Understanding advanced concepts but forgetting simple algebra.

9. People expecting you to be good and fast at mental math.

Um, hello! We are not walking calculators!

10. Different professors using different equations and variables.

Math is already hard enough, we do NOT need more equations and variables for the same thing.
