Sundresses and Cannolis

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brown chapter.

Hey gals. Seasons come and go, but certain things about the spring will never change. As you may have guessed, I am directly referring to the jarring increase in sundresses on Brown’s campus. But sundresses mean more than looking cute and showing off the latest fashion trends. Like the first shots fired in Montana telling its unusually sparse population that hunting season has begun, the sundresses signify the beginning of picnic season, often cited as the most adorable time of year.

Dates are no longer confined to fancy restaurants or McDonalds (here at HerCampus, we do not judge). Rather, today, on earth day, the whole world becomes your restaurant. You just need to know how to use it. In this section of Date Night(Day) we will offer some comprehensive tips on outdoor dating in Providence.

Although norms suggest that men usually initiate “dates”, here at HerCampus, we think everyone should have the right to ask their counterpart to a nice evening out. We believe in equality and female empowerment. We also believe in fine dining at a reasonable price, and so, if you want that guy you always stare at from the back row of lecture to think you are the coolest girl around, follow these simple tips on outdoor dating in Providence.

Cannolis at Venda Ravioli

Venda Ravioli is municipally recognized as one of Federal Hill’s oldest Italian specialty food shops. However, what most people don’t know is that Venda is home to Providence’s finest Cannoli. Constantino’s espresso bar is nestled in the left corner of the culinary establishment, and if you ask politely in a fake Italian accent (Most workers are from el Salvador but put on accents they picked up from The Godfather), you can get the best Cannoli in the Northeast. The creamy ricotta filling complements the smooth exterior, perfectly embodying the suggestive phallic foods that are so typical to dates. Grab a cup of coffee and a few Cannolis and walk them outside to the beautiful and rustic DePasqual Square. You can sit at the outdoor tables or if you are feeling European enough, you can enjoy your partner’s company while sitting on Lovers’ Fountain® in the heart of the square. If that does not conquer his heart, they also sell wine.
