St. Patty’s Day is Here: How to Rock the Green

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brown chapter.

Although many of us may see St. Patrick’s Day as a solid reason to party, it is also a day where we can rock the color of green. But, don’t think that you can only wear this color on your clothes. If you are looking for a different way to show your love for the Irish, definitely consider your nails and face as a blank canvas.

Don’t be afraid to mix different shades of colors together to compliment the green hues. There are multiple color schemes that really bring out this lively shade. If you love lime green, a light peachy color, a light grey, or even a darker green create a subtle but interesting twist. Another color palette that goes well together is a teal green, sea foam green, and a fuchsia purple.  You can incorporate these color schemes on your nails by painting all your nails one shade of green. Then, you place your complimenting color on one particular finger. In this picture, instead of placing a different color, a sparkly nail art was placed over the nail. The concept is the same and both are great looks to try out for St. Patty’s Day!

If you are looking to switch up the look on your face, look no further than your eyelids! One original look to try is colored mascara. Most of the time, we gravitate towards darker shades of this make-up staple but a great look can be achieved for this holiday by applying green mascara. This look is especially beautiful in the daytime when the sun can catch the unique color bouncing off your lashes. Green, of course, can also be incorporated as eye shadow. But, in order to make sure that these looks last, make sure to always apply primer before starting! Here, Leona Lewis is rocking both a color scheme and incorporating dazzling green eyeliner. She is wearing a hunter green with a rosy blush and finished her look with a deep pink. This is an amazing nighttime look if you are hitting the club or the bar on Sunday.

You can also incorporate different green color schemes by starting inside the eye and working out. Kim Kardashian has a more yellow shade of green on the inside of her eye that gradually blends into a darker green and eventually turns into a shimmery grey. This is another stunning example of how pairing green with lovely compliments of other colors can create a classy, but festive look.
