With the news that one of Bristol’s most integral music venues is closing its doors, we bid a sad farewell to the legendary Start the Bus. One of the cornerstones of the Bristol scene it was a place that celebrated the city’s individual spirit with a wide array of touring bands and a renowned vibrant spirit. For myself it will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the first places I heard live music in the city, and with its closure the importance of supporting local venues is an issue that has again reared its head. Below is a list of just some of the most endearing music venues in the city; places perfect to relax with friends, escape from deadlines and lose yourself in the music.
The Louisiana
A small venue that truly packs a punch. Pack yourself into its cosy upstairs room and get close to the artists you love, as well as artists you are just discovering.
