Dear readers,
Welcome back!
I hope you all managed to have a relaxing Easter break, despite the looming prospect of exams and deadlines. Summer term is always a tricky one as we must hit the library whilst fighting the urge to run smiling into the sunshine. Keep up the motivation by reminding yourself of all of the fun that awaits in June. In the mean time, you can always channel your excitement into finding new places to study – Beacon House has become something of a social hot spot this week which says a lot about the social lives of third years really!
Summer term will be an emotional one in many ways for myself and Alex as it brings with it the end of our time at Bristol, and with that the end of our time as Campus Correspondents of HC Bristol. However, we are saving our sadness for the end of term and in the mean time we are so excited to now be recruiting for the 2016/17 team! And in the spirit of announcements, I should also say that we are so proud to now be affiliated with Bristol Student’s Union.
So what does being affiliated mean, you ask? Most simply, being a society offers the incoming Her Campus team more opportunities to engage with University of Bristol students – with general support and advice from the SU, including access to the SU buildings and Welcome Week Fresher’s Fair, the magazine should hopefully be able to continue building upon the success that we have enjoyed this year.
It also means that we will now have a committee comprising of a team of senior editors and members of the executive team. This committee will hold weekly meetings to generate ideas and goals for the editorial and executive teams. For this, we will be holding an AGM on Friday 22nd April at 17:00.
Available roles are as follows:
– Treasurer – Executive role – responsible for the magazine finances
– Secretary – Administration and communications for editorial and executive teams
– Features Editor – Editorial – senior editor for Features
– Blog Editor – Editorial – senior editor for Blog content incl. Lifestyle sections
– Profile Editor – Editorial – senior editor for Profile (interviews)
– PR/Publicity Director – Executive – responsible for publicity and promotion on campus
– Social Media Manager – Executive – senior social media management responsible for maintaining daily social media presence
– Events Director – Executive – responsible for events co-ordination
We have thoroughly enjoyed watching the HC team grow and develop this year and we are so looking forward to expanding the team this year. Please do come along and try out for a role next Friday – even if you have never written for us or come to one of our events before!
Following the AGM we will continue recruitment for section editors and positions within the executive team so there will be plenty of opportunities available.
