Nothing screams ‘new year’ more than new TV shows to watch. With productions fully in swing after Covid, we can expect TV shows to be even bigger and better this year. Forget watching new seasons of old shows, these are the best new shows coming out in 2022:

1. This is Going to hurt

Adapted from Adam Kay’s bestselling 2017 memoir This Is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor, BBC’s This Is Going To Hurt is set to be both hilarious and heart-breaking. This Is Going To Hurt follows the highs and lows of junior doctor Adam, played by Ben Whishaw, as he works on a labour ward.  As the fundamental role of NHS workers has been at the centre of conversations these past years, This Is Going To Hurt is definitely a show to add to your watch list.

Release date: February 8th

Where to watch: BBC One

2. Chloe

Written by Sex Education’s Alice Seabright, Chloe is the BBC’s new psychological thriller. Chloe follows The Crown’s Erin Doherty’s character Becky Green as she attempts to find the truth behind both Chloe’s life on social media and her mysterious death.

Release date: February 6th

Where to watch: BBC One

3. Conversations with FriendS

Much awaited following the success of Normal People, Conversations with Friends will be coming to the BBC this year. Arguably just as steamy as Normal People, Conversations with Friends explores the strange relationship between two college students and a married couple. Although Conversations with Friends does not feature the gorgeous Paul Mescal it does feature Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn so I think we can expect Conversations with Friends to be a hit show of 2022.

Release date: TBC

Where to watch: BBC Three

4. Everything I know about love

Based on Dolly Alderton’s hit memoir Everything I know about Love (which I’m sure you have read, I mean which twenty-something hasn’t read it), the show explores the friendship between two childhood best friends Birdy and Maggie as they move into their first phase of adulthood. A release date for Alderton’s romantic comedy is yet to be confirmed but will certainly be one to look out for.

5. i hate you

If you are looking for a new laugh-out-loud comedy in 2022, look no further than Channel 4’s brand new sitcom I Hate You. Made by the creator of Friday Night Dinner, Robert Popper, it is sure to be hilarious. If that isn’t convincing enough it features the hilariously talented Lily from Sex Education, Tanya Reynolds, and the show follows her character’s intense, messy friendship with her best friend Becca.

Release date: TBC

Where to watch: Channel 4

6. Inventing ANna

The long-awaited show inspired by Jessica Pressler’s New York Magazine article, How an Aspiring ‘It’ Girl Tricked New York’s Party People — and its Banks, which exposed the true story of con artist Anna Delvey. Inventing Anna tells the story of how Anna Delvey’s web of lies, which led some of New York’s wealthiest socialites to believe she was a billionaire heiress, untangled.

7. Anatomy of a Scandal

Focusing on a sexual consent trial among the British privileged elite, Anatomy of a Scandal features a star-studded cast including Sienna Miller as Sophie Whitehouse and Michelle Dockery as Kate Woodcraft. 8. wecrashed

9. Pam & Tommy

Pam & Tommy comes to our screens on February 2nd to tell the story of the sex tape stolen from Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee in 1995. Lily James looks unrecognisable as Pamela Anderson and the star-studded cast fails to disappoint.
