The Autumn essentials; what you need in your wardrobe this season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bristol chapter.

Do you know about this Autumn’s must haves? Here at Her Campus Bristol we have rounded up the latest trends based on the catwalk shows and high street retailers this season.  We have saved you all the fuss of looking through the stores yourselves so that you can stay stylish and warm throughout the Autumn months.

1. Midi Skirt

Stylish and comfortable, either invest in a pleated version as favoured on the catwalk by Joseph and Valentino or a satin version in response to the sell out of the cult Realisation Par Naomi skirt. The high street has multiple offerings like the Urban Outfitters satin slip skirt in vivid colours https://bit.ly/2AC0fuB or this polka dot ASOS skirt for a bolder statement https://goo.gl/dvsUPn

2. Animal Print

The trend is everywhere this season. Either invest in a statement piece (eg: a leopard print coat from Nobody’s Child which offers great student discount https://bit.ly/2PtL0wc) to jazz up your layered outfits or if you are not ready to unleash your full wild child, then a subtle hint to the trend could be through tortoiseshell earrings- something which seems very popular with Bristol students at the moment. Topshop are offering a very affordable pair this season:  https://goo.gl/2vj2bf

3. Brown Knitwear

Knitwear is, of course, an essential for every Autumn but this year brown is the new black. & Other Stories does comfortable, good quality knitwear, which although on the pricier side is guaranteed to last from one season to the next. What’s more, a new & Other Stories shop is expected to open in November in Cabot Circus. This year it is offering this brown turtleneck with side splits https://goo.gl/fa7RvW which is made of wool and so is great for the colder months. H&has an affordable but equally trendy alternative: https://bit.ly/2Q35xVk

4. Chunky Trainers

Descended from the hype surrounding the Balenciaga Triple S trainers, the trend for chunky dad-style trainers is here to replace the daintier version like Stan Smiths. This trend is here to stay as evidenced by the recent Adidas Falcon campaign fronted by Kylie Jenner https://www.adidas.co.uk/falcon. Either opt for Falcons or the new Nike M2K Tekno’s  https://swoo.sh/2PbvZM4, or a purse friendly alternative is Zara’range of chunky soled trainers: https://go.zara/2OiTnpI

5. Check

The classic Clueless trend has officially made a comeback on the catwalk at Versace, Miu Miu and Calvin Klein. Look to the high street retailer New Look who have a whole feature on checks this season for some affordable items https://bit.ly/2PwBusd. My favourite is the jacquard checked jumpsuit because it comes in the petite, tall and curves ranges.  https://bit.ly/2qkyPn6
