Many people may believe that there has been a huge difference in the way women were treated when it came to sports. This may be true but there is still a long way to go. If you have seen many recent stories, there has been a major insight on how these women are actually treated. Look at Serena Williams’ recent grand slam tennis match. She was called for a violation for conversing with the umpire in an aggressive tone but if you look at many of male players they do ten times worse and are liberated for the act. Another recent issue has been the pay for women in basketball. Lebron James signed a $154 million deal contract which caused a worldwide conversation. Many WNBA stars are being cornered with approximately a $115,000 salary maximum and people started to take this into consideration.

There is a huge difference between male professional basketball players and female professional basketball players. With the knowledge of the huge salary gap between the player’s earnings, many stars have stepped out and talked on this. WNBA star such as A’ja Wilson and even NBA star such as Stephen Curry has opened up about their opinions so there is still hope for change. Everyone has a say on a woman in sports, to the number of people they attract or not, how many fans they have compared to the men or whatever else. Even if a person was to look past all of the comparisons with the money bought in, they can see the skill set of these women. Women work as hard as men do, maybe even harder and are treated on the backpedal stool when it comes to paying. Even for a fact, people who have the most to say about women couldn’t even last one round, one game, one lap, or anything if it came to competing against them.

There just has to be more respect for women in sports. Many women have to risk it all in order to be where they are today. People can say all they want about how far we have come, but we still have a long way to go.
