Pie an ADPi and Delta Tri Brought to You by: Meg Bronaugh and Hannah Doster

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brenau chapter.

Meg Bronaugh, the current chapter president of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity, Inc. (Tri Delta) here at Brenau University, and Hanna Doster, the current Chapter President for Alpha Delta Pi Fraternity, Inc. (ADPi), are this week’s campus celebrities! These ladies brought their sororities together on Family Weekend in efforts to help support their philanthropies. With the event, “Pie and ADPi and a Delta Tri,” all funds raised will go towards their sorority’s respective philanthropies.

Meg Bronaugh has also served her chapter as new member educator, sponsor/reference chairman, alumnae relations co-chairman, and Vice President of Chapter Development during her time here. Bronaugh is currently involved in Sigma Theta Tau, Gamma Sigma Alpha, Order of Omega, and the president of Rho Lambda. She has served on the Panhellenic Exec Board and has been a Rho Gamma. She now works at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital as a nurse tech.

“I joined a sorority to be a part of something bigger than myself. I really value team work, and that is a huge part of Greek life,” Bronaugh stated, “I’m extremely passionate about Tri Delta’s philanthropy, St. Jude, and our chapter will do anything and everything to raise money for the kids!”

Hannah Doster, the current 2014-2015 collegiate Chapter President for Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) also located here at Brenau. She has served her chapter as Leadership Chair, Spirit Chair, New Member Coordinator, Finance Vice President, and Recruitment Information Manager during her time at Brenau as well.  Right now, she’s President of Brenau’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, a member of Order of Omega and Gamma Sigma Alpha.  Doster is active in church and works at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Hall County as a tutor.

Doster says, “I joined Alpha Delta Pi because I wanted a close group of friends like I had in high school. I found so much more in ADPi, though. I found some of the most genuine people that I could ever imagine and I get to call them my sisters. They have helped shaped me into the woman and leader that I am today and I could never express my appreciation for everything that they have given me.”

ADPi has made Pie an ADPi a tradition on Family Weekend for several years now and were looking for a fun way to make it a much more successful event then it has been in the past. Tri Delta was the perfect solution according to both sororities. The two Chapter Presidents answered similarly when asked why they chose to partner with each other rather than another sorority on campus.

Bronaugh stated, “Although we love all of the other chapters, we have always had special ties with ADPi. We all work well together and we both are very passionate about our philanthropies and wanted to make our traditional events more successful than last year.”

In the words of Doster, “The benefit of Pie an ADPi and Delta Tri was being able to raise money for both Ronald McDonald House Charities and Saint Jude and to be able to have fun with our Greek sisters while doing it! I think that everyone who participated in the event had a blast while helping families with sick children.”

Both women believe that Greek Unity is a very important factor to Greek Life. Doster said, “Although we all have different places to call home, we come together to support each other and have fun!” Bronaugh agreed by stating, “Greek unity means working together for the bigger purpose of our chapters. To all work toward raising money for our philanthropies, having ties between our sisters with other sisters in other chapters, and enjoying our bonds.”

These women enjoyed looking silly for a greater cause with their sisters. They expected to raise as much money as possible for both philanthropies and were surprised by the outcome they received. The two sororities blew past results out of the water by raising $133 for Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude’s.

The two sororities are hoping to have the event next year along with the Crawfish for a Cure that was cancelled due to inclement weather. However, Tri Delta is looking into rescheduling the Crawfish for a Cure. Bronaugh stated, “So stay tuned.”
