Just as the Brandeis Meme’s page is dying down and becoming significantly less
funny, another entertaining page comes to take its place. What Should We Call Me At Brandeis is a tumblr of animated gifs, describing Brandeis quirks, like Brandeis Tuesdays and and the C-Store. Blogs of this style are popular right now, and are creeping up on campuses other than Brandeis.

The inspiration for WSWCMBrandeis is #Whatshouldwecallme, which covers more general topics like putting on lotion and saying the word “moist.” What makes these kinds of jokes interesting is that the punchline is always an action or facial expression. The gifs have no sound and minimal text, and so they can’t have comedic timing. The gifs also put unexpected spins on scenes from TV and movies by relating them back to real life. For instance, I’ve seen Mean Girls about a dozen times, and I’ve rolled my eyes at someone saying “POD Market” about a dozen more, but I’d never tied those two things together

Rachel is a junior math major and premed student at Brandeis University. She is an EMT and recently joined her school's EMS squad. When she's not busy studying, she enjoys blogging, watching sitcoms, drawing zentangles, folding origami, and eating chocolate.
Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
