The Undergraduate Theatre Cooperative Presents Cinderella Waltz

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

With family weekend quickly approaching, many of Brandeis’s best performance groups are pulling out all of the stops. The Undergraduate Theatre Collective is no exception. If you’re looking for a great way to show your parents what the UTC is made of, check out Brandeis Ensemble Theater’s production of Cinderella Waltz! This show takes two classic adaptations of Cinderella, Perrault’s (better known as the Disney version) and The Brothers Grimm’s, and spins them into an innovative and modern story, borrowing from other well-known folk tales along the way. Language and sexual content make this production far from the class Disney adaptation, so be cautious about bringing children!

Set in the fairytale land of Cinderville, Cinderella Waltz tells the story of Rosey Snow, a modernized Cinderella. She, like her fairytale counterpart, lives with her ignorant father, evil stepsisters, and sinister stepmother. When it is announced that a ball will be held at the royal palace, Rosey is eager to attend. With the help of her foul-mouthed fairy godmother, Mother Magee, and the village idiot, Zed, Rosey attempts to make her dreams a reality.

To find out if Rosey makes it to the ball to win the affections of the prince, come see Cinderella Waltz at the Shapiro Campus Center Theater. Tickets cost $5 (only $3 with a student ID!) and are available online through Brandeis tickets, by phone at (781) 736-3400, or in person at the Shapiro Campus Center box office. Performances will be held Thursday, Oct. 27th-Sunday, Oct. 30th with shows at 8:00 PM on Thursday through Saturday and 2:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
