Whenever winter trends emerge, they always seem to recommend dark or dramatic shades of nail polish. Let’s clear this up: winter nails don’t have to be bold! You can do a subtler classy take on the standard winter manicure with a few pastels. Here are a few barely-there nail colors to help spice up your look without overdoing it.

Seafoam Green

This lovely pale green is found in tints on the beach as you look out into the ocean where the waves meet the sand. As the wind whips around you and snow begins to fall, keep warm summer days in mind with nails inspired by sea glass.

Lavender

Orchid-ing Aside by Sally Hansen

Floral colors are often reserved for spring, but lavender is subdued enough to wear in winter. Pair this soft purple with chunky sweaters and light fabrics for a perfect lazy outfit.

Baby Blue

The shade the sky becomes when the sun peeks through the clouds after a long rainy day can now be replicated in your nails. Blue symbolizes peace and tranquillity, reminding you to breathe through the final stretch of this semester.

Light Grey

Grey is the new black. A darker shade that pays homage to your grunge days that’s just subtle enough to be classy.

Pastel Pink

Minimalistic by Essie

Pink is a classic for working professionals because it can barely be seen. Whether you’re looking for a confidence boost for your next class presentation or just something to complete your power suit for an interview, pink is the perfect shade.

Light Brown

Head Bang by Sally Hansen

Match the changing colors of the sunset with muted shades of light brown. Brown is also the hue of all warm, decadent holiday foods like chocolate, coffee, syrup, caramel, and gingerbread.

Pearly White

Waltz by Essie

A striking color such as white would be difficult to tone down, but this polish manages it. The sheerness to the color is dainty without being too feminine.
