Over Spring break I have decided that in addition to attempting to get some work done, (I’ll keep you posted on how that goes), and catching up on some much-needed zzz’s, I would do a great deal of field research (aka shopping) in order to update my wardrobe and let you gals know what stores are currently showing for spring.Although my last article was a brief overview of trends, mostly assembled through my research on Style.com and some online stores, I decided to hit the streets and the malls in order to give you guys a more thorough report. I spent an entire afternoon window-shopping on Robertson and snapped some pictures of a few store’s window displays that were right on point for the spring season.
Although Tory Burch’s obsession with orange is nothing new, the fact that it is the go-to color for the season must make her ecstatic. From belts to blouses, her store windows are inundated with the shade proving that even just a hint of the color makes for a powerful yet fashionable statement.
In Nanette Lepore and Paul and Joe,fierce florals were at the forefront. The blues, whites, and purples are darker in tone than usual summer florals, and the fact that they are both short-sleeved instead of tank are both fitting because it is not quite summer yet. The plus about these frocks is that a sweater would be unnecessary to wear with them since there is extra fabric on the shoulder to keep you a bit warmer.
In the Madison window, lace and feathers ruled. In last post I did not mention about these two trends, which have carried over from fall, however I am a big fan.
Embrace your lace, perhaps in the form of a dress like the one pictured, and free your feathers by sporting a headband adorned with them or on the bottom half of a dress.
The biggest trend of the season could be easily identified in the windows of every denim store on the block through the flared jeans. Sporting these seventies inspired bottoms is one of the easiest ways to embrace spring trends.
So what’s going to be in my suitcase to bring back to school? My floral sweater, orange necklace, flared jeans, a few lightweight pastel colored scarves, some t-shirts and my headband with feathers. While the thought of packing is overwhelming, I am definitely starting to warm up to the idea that I will be returning to weather that hopefully will not require me to wear my puffer jacket 24/7.
