Meet the Staff: Emily Eidler ’20

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Name: Emily Eidler

Year: first-year (class of 2020 — best graduation year ever!)

Hometown: New York City

Majors/Minors: possibly Education

Her Campus: What attracted you to Brandeis?

Emily Eidler: I got into Brandeis early decision and was attracted to it for several reasons.  First, I liked the small size of the student body and small class sizes.  I also liked that Brandeis had a campus, but at the same time was super close to a big city.  It is also the perfect distance from home, not too close or too far.  Brandeis also has so many clubs and organizations, as well as interesting classes.  I also was intrigued by the big Jewish community.  Lastly, I liked that social justice is very important to  Brandeisians.

HC: What has been your favorite moment at Brandeis so far?

EE: I loved This Is Our House at orientation.  Jamele Adams is really funny and full of energy.  This program made me feel like part of a community.  It also made me feel empowered and inspired to make something great out of my Brandeis career.

HC: What are you still looking forward to experiencing in your time at Brandeis?

EE: As I’m only a first-year, I have so much to look forward to.  I look forward to getting more involved in clubs, getting to take upper level courses, New England winters (just kidding), and exploring Boston.  I am also looking forward to campus events, such as the Leonard Bernstein Festival for the Creative Arts and Springfest.

HC: What other activities are you involved in on campus? And what do you still want to try?

EE: In addition to Her Campus, I am in the acapella group No Singer Clef Behind, in Waltham Group’s club Junior Brandeis Achievers, an assistant costumer for Urinetown, and first year rep for BaRuCh, Hillel’s reform chavurah.

HC: What do you like about writing for Her Campus?

EE: I like writing for Her Campus because I’ve always read blog articles like the ones on Her Campus, and now I get the chance to write my own.  It’s fun to come up with article ideas, invent catchy titles, and find cute gifs.  It feels good to know that people are reading what I am writing.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

EE: That’s a hard question.  I’m not quite sure.  I don’t want a desk job.  I want a creative job that will impact the lives of others.  Ten years from now, when I’m 28, would also be the perfect age to get married.
