HerCampus: Why did you choose to come to Brandeis?

Eli Wasserman: Brandeis seemed to have the most inviting and passionate community of students out of all of the other schools I applied to. I liked the intimate campus setting, and the quality of academics at Brandeis as well.

HC: What are you involved in on campus?

EW: I am the Business Manager of the Acapella group Rather Be Giraffes, and also the President and Co-Founder of the Brandeis Society for International Affairs. I am also a tour guide on campus but had to take a break this semester to focus on starting the BSIA. I also work for the IGS department, organizing events and doing administrative work.

HC: What has your experience of founding a new club on campus been and what do you think is the greatest reason why the  BSIA would be valuable at Brandeis?

EW: Founding a new club has definitely been a challenge, but I believe that there are lots of resources at Brandeis that aided me in establishing the BSIA. The student union has set up a rigorous set of guidelines to charter clubs, but their personal attention to detail is helpful when preparing for BSIA events and meetings. I believe that the BSIA brings a necessary non-partisan club focused on educating the Brandeis community about the most pressing global crises happening in the world.

HC:  What do you think your greatest struggle as a college student has been so far?

EW: Definitely trying not to over-commit. With a number of clubs, and opportunities at Brandeis it has been really hard for me to pick some activities over others. However, I am super passionate about everything that I am involved in at Brandeis which makes it easy to put in the work.
