Her Campus: Why Brandeis?

Josh Luger: It honestly came down to the community on campus. I love how passionate, busy and kind everyone is here. I don’t know of any other community in or outside of college that is as quirky, fun, caring, and passionate as the Brandeis community. It’s just a great group of people.

HC: What is your biggest pet peeve about Brandeis?

JL: How quickly we can to be to complain about things.

HC: What do you hope to accomplish in your time left at Brandeis?

JL: I really hope to finish my senior thesis, leave my mark on this community, and solidify the incredible friendships I have made here.

HC: What activities are you involved in on campus?

JL: I am Co-President of False Advertising Musical Improv Comedy Troupe, I have been very involved in Hillel and BaRuCH here, and I am also a Senior Interviewer and one of the Ambassador Coordinators in Admissions.

HC: Did you take any risks or involve yourself in new activities at Brandeis?

JL: Well I had always been involved in theater and specifically improv comedy in high school, but I had never tried musical improv because (and this comes as no surprise to anyone who has seen me perform) I can’t sing to save my life, but I tried out for False Ad and have fallen in love with our brand of comedy. The singing is still a major challenge for me but the challenge makes it a lot of fun and hopefully my terrible singing and even worse rhythm makes it funnier for the audience.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JL: Working my tail off within the US government trying to make our country and world a better place through public service, also settling down with a family.

HC: Now that you’re famous, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

JL: All of the shouting at me and my groups when I give tours for admissions is amazing and makes them so much fun. Also to anyone who has ever stopped me walking to class to say they saw False Ad at coffeehouse or somewhere the night before and we made you laugh, you make comedy worth it!

Favorites:

Class: Too many!! Anything with Professor Kryder, Gaskins, or Breen, and also From Psalms to Hip Hop looking at the music throughout American History.

Spot in Boston: Anywhere my girlfriend, Lauren wants to go, I don’t know much in Boston but always have a good time with her at the restaurants and spots she likes. Also she is the real campus cutie, I don’t know how I got picked over her, just saying.

Season: Summer because back home it’s spent on a boat out on the lakes, and fall because its football season.

Movie: Either a Star Wars A New Hope or the Return of the Jedi. Lately though all the marvel movies especially Captain America have been fighting to overtake Star Wars, but I’m allowed to love ’em all.

Dessert: Let’s go with a classic- Apple Pie, but in all honesty I’m a sucker for desserts so really most things with apple or chocolate and peanut butter I’m all in.
