As finals roll around, more and more of us will start to camp out in the library. As any final season novice knows, once you get a good seat in the library, it takes a lot of willpower to give it up given the chance of it being there when you come back from a five minute run to get food or coffee is slim to none. More often than not, on one of your trips to the library you will probably forget something, a charger, a book, or headphones. If you find yourself in that situation, don’t freak out, you don’t need to lose your A+ seat in the library to run back to your room and get it, the library can rent some of these things to you!
1) Power Cables – the library can rent power cords for both mac and PCs, if you have the new mac book air they have an adaptor to go on top of the old one so you too will not have your computer running out of battery minutes before finishing a paper.
2) Mac Book Airs and Notebooks (both come with power cables) – if you are in the unfortunate situation where your computer breaks down on your in the middle of finals, the library can rent you a mac book air or a notebook computer so you can still get your finals handed in on time! You can borrow these for twenty four hours so there is no stress of getting them back within four hours.
3) Phone Chargers – the library also rents out chargers for the iPhone, iPods, Micro USB and BlackBerrys. Don’t worry if your phone is dying but you still have at least three hours of work to finish in the library, you can borrow one for just enough time that should put your phone battery at almost 100%.
4) iPads (comes with a power cable) – if you are someone who loves working on iPads but you don’t have access to one yourself, or if yours is out of commission for whatever reason the library can rent you one to use for a whole day!
5) Dry Erase Markers (comes with an eraser) – if you see the white boards floating around the library and have ever wanted to use them but don’t have your own white board markers, the library has their own supply that comes with erasers! You can work in a study group and use the board, or work on a group project using one of the awesome new whiteboard tables in the Upper Green Room all without having to buy your own markers!
6)Â Textbooks– let’s not forget these important studying tools! A large selection of the books for your classes are on reserve in the library and can be taken out for two or three hours at a time. You can check with the front desk to see if it’s on reserve and can check it out with your Brandeis ID. Note that these books can’t usually be taken out of the library but are useful if you are stuck in the library without the book you need.Â
These are just some of the really useful things the library can rent out that will be a life saver and a game changer during finals! The complete list, the time you can rent each item for the late fees can be found here: http://lts.brandeis.edu/borrowing/equipment.html. All you have to do to successfully rent one of these items is hand them your Brandeis ID and you are set to continue your studying! Good luck on finals!
