This weekend is Fall Fest: five days for Brandeis to show itself off to your families. The weekend will be filled with parents kvelling over how much you’ve matured in the past 1.5 months, with alumni reminiscing about their good ole Brandeis days and with siblings making your social life even more awkward than it already is. Luckily the weekend is jam-packed with lots of activities to keep you guys sane (and to keep your parents busy when you go on that last-minute coffee date with your crush). Here are some highlights:
Â
Thursday, Oct. 27
Trivia Night (10:00 p.m. to midnight): The questions are Brandeis history-themed; for those of you with alumni parents, you might just win this thing.
Â
Friday, Oct. 28
Postcards with Ollie (1:00 to 3:00 p.m.): Um, new profile pictures, anyone?
Trip to Blue Man Group (pre-registration necessary): Blue Man Group plays music on paint-filled drums, teepees entire audiences with toilet paper and eats Twinkies during performances. It’s definitely a fun experience to share with your family.
Â
Saturday, Oct. 29
Faculty Spotlight: Brandeis at the Beginning (11:00 a.m. to noon): Listen to Stephen Whitfeld (the Brandeis History Guru) talk about how Brandeis has established itself as a notable and unique institution—in just over 60 years!
Â
Haunted Castle Tour (6:30 p.m.): Find out once and for all if the Castle is haunted. (And if it is, are ghosts allowed on the roof…?) Enjoy ice cream at Chums afterwards! (You can also take this tour on Friday night.)
Variety Show (8:00 p.m.): Discover your friends’ hidden talents at this show. Â
Â
Sunday, Oct. 30
A Reflection of Brandeis (10:30 a.m.): When you want to catch those extra Z’z, send your parents to hear Fred Lawrence reflect on the past and look towards the future of Brandeis.
Â
Monday, Oct. 31
Open Classes (ALL DAY): You’re not done yet: There’s a good chance you’ll see your parents again in some of your classes. And get excited, because tonight is Halloween!
Â
So that’s Fall Fest for ya. If your family can’t make it this year, you can still attend all the events with your friends. And if your family is showing up, make sure to spend some time with them and let them know what you love about Brandeis.
