Hometown: New Rochelle, New York
Major and Minor: Psychology major considering adding HSSP as a second major.
Relationship status: Single
HC: What are you involved in on campus?
DG: I’m on the crew team and I’m currently pledging Sigma Alpha Mu
HC: When did you know that you wanted to be involved in crew?
DG: I started rowing for the crew team last year at my old school (because I’m a transfer). I’ve always loved the water and rowing seemed like a good outlet for me and also it’s an amazing work out. After the first semester I absolutely fell in love with everything about the sport and since then cant imagine not rowing.
HC: Where did you transfer from?
DG: I transferred from Hofstra University.
HC: What appealed to you about Brandeis?
DG: Aside from the gorgeous campus, one of the biggest selling points for me about Brandeis was the overwhelming sense of community I felt on campus. While visiting different schools Brandeis was the only one that made me feel welcomed before even being accepted. It was the kind of place that made me feel like I belonged and that feeling remains the same even now.
HC: How has your experience been so far?
DG: I absolutely love it here. In a month I’ve had more fun and met more people here than I did at my old school. I’m a lot more involved and I feel like I’m where I truly belong.
HC: How has your experience been on crew?
DG: My experience with this team has been amazing so far. When transferring schools one of my biggest concerns was adjusting to a new team, but there was no awkward adjustment period with the Brandeis crew. The day I walked onto the team they made me feel like a part of the family and I’m so happy to be here and to be rowing for them.
HC: What are you most looking forward to next semester?
DG: I’m looking forward to the spring race season with my team and also a few of the classes that I’m already planning on taking.
HC: Do you have any advice for any transfer students?
DG: My best advice to any other transfers is to hit the ground running. You obviously transferred for a reason and now that you’re here don’t hold anything back. With college, what you put in is what you’ll get out so give it everything you’ve got.
HC: What is a quirk that you like about yourself that people don’t know?
DG: I suppose one thing that not everyone knows about me is that I’m a singer. And I mean I’m almost always singing. If I’m not singing then something must be terribly wrong.
