I’ve talked about starting a blog since the middle of high school.  I’ve had multiple inspirations and ideas and had so many different names for it; eventually, I got overwhelmed so I stopped pursuing it.  Finally, over this past winter break, I did it.  I peeled the Band-Aid off, whatever metaphor you like to use and created a blog. I’ve always used writing to help me work out the thoughts in my head and think through things that happen in my life.  This isn’t all that different, but now it’s a bit more public and I need to censor myself. I only made it public to people (including my own family) these past two weeks when I put in an application to join the Her Campus Blogger Network.

Now, my thoughts about how to cope with stress, some of my resolutions I want to work on for this year, and general life thoughts are in the public eye and, not going to lie, it’s a bit scary. I’ve learned over the years to take criticism with pride and not take it personally. I think I’ve hit the point with this blog that I am confident in it, which is something I was not with my other ideas I had throughout the years. I know what I want to talk about and don’t really care about what other people think.  Primarily, this is for me but if others take what I say to heart and follow some of my advice I am thrilled.

I decided to apply to be a part of the Her Campus Blogger Network because I had a solid base of posts and for once, I hadn’t given up on the blog a week into it, so I figured why not. What was really cool was that I was accepted.  For anyone who writes a blog, this is an awesome opportunity to get your name out there, meet other bloggers and expand your network of people to hundreds more.  There are blogs ranging from fashion to life advice, you name it, it’s there. It’s been such a cool experience already for me, talking to bloggers and getting advice.  Now I have a little more motivation to keep it going. So, check out my blog, (http://emilybeks93.wordpress.com) follow me, and give me feedback. If you have a blog you love writing, I seriously encourage you to submit it and see what happens.  In worst case, keep writing and share it with people you love.
