Mason jars aren’t just for jam or jellies.  They can be used in a variety of ways to give your dorm room a facelift, or with the holidays coming up, to create cute and quirky gifts.  Get crafty with these fun ways to use mason jars.

  1. Treats In a Jar: Fill up any mason jar with seasonal treats to give as a gift or snacks for the go.

  2. Drinks: Mason Jars are an eco-friendly and BPA free container option perfect for storing water, juice, or iced tea.

  3. Storage: Does your dorm room need a little sprucing? Mason jars make a cute and practical alternative for storage.

  4. Lanterns: Paste lace or pretty paper cutouts on a mason jar and place a lit votive candle inside to make a sweet little lantern.

  5. Vase: Mason Jars make the perfect place to put seasonal flower arrangements

  6. Snow globes/Dioramas: Create a holiday themed diorama or snow globe to make your dorm room more festive, or give as a gift.

  7. Potted Plants: Grow your own dorm plant and use a mason jar as the pot.

I am a double major in Anthropology and International/Global Studies with a minor in Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation at Brandeis University. As a native Southern Californian, I have a born passion for avocados and an innate dread of cold weather. In my free time I love cooking (with avocados of course), drawing and writing.
Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
