5 Things Midyears Hear Every January

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

On January 8th, 80 new first years moved onto the Brandeis University campus. Much like the rest of the student body, the midyear class of 2019 is full of bright and enthusiastic students coming from diverse backgrounds and interests. The class has begun to grow incredibly close sharing stories of first semester, living all together in the Village, and talking about the things we hear everyday.

1. “Welcome to Brandeis!”

Thank you! Thank you. Thank you for being super friendly. Seriously, thank you. We get it, we are happy you’re happy we are here.

2. “How do you like Brandeis so far?”

Well, we just got here. Only had one week of classes and have gone to that club one time. But I’ll just tell you I love it.

3. “Meet the regular freshmen.”

Regular? What does that make me? Am I not normal?

4. “I was a mid year!”

MIDYEARS ARE LOW KEY EVERYWHERE!

5. “What did you do last semester?”

We traveled, worked, interned, saved the world, studied abroad, studied close to home. So yeah, we’ve done some pretty cool stuff. We love talking about our experiences, so just ask!

I am a double major in Anthropology and International/Global Studies with a minor in Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation at Brandeis University. As a native Southern Californian, I have a born passion for avocados and an innate dread of cold weather. In my free time I love cooking (with avocados of course), drawing and writing.
