10 Ways you can keep in Touch with Your Friends…No Matter Where You Are!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

These ten tips are surefire ways to keep in touch with friends from home while both of you are away at different schools!

1.   Snail Mail: There’s nothing like a hand-written letter in the mail to brighten your day.

2.   Facetime: It’s quick, easy, and you can feel like you’re really with a person.

3.   Snapchat: Make a ridiculous face, snap them at a party, show them the cupcake you’re about to eat, the limit is endless.

4.   Send packages: Decorate a box and fill it with fun pictures and snacks to let them know that you’re thinking about them.

5.   Call each other: Whether you call each other for venting sessions or just to catch up, calling each other is essential for keeping up with each other’s fast- paced lives.

6.   Mail a special object or a journal back and forth:  Write down anecdotes from your day in a journal and mail it to each other! You can keep up with what’s really happening from day to day and it’s also a great way to keep college memories.

7.   Send each other links or videos: Did your favorite band just come out with a new EP? Did you see a buzzfeed article that reminded you of them? Send them links and videos, it’ll give you something to reconnect with and talk about.

8.   Plan your next visit or reunion: Buy tickets to a concert together or plan a lunch date, there’s no better way to catch up then actually hanging out! Your plans will give you something to look forward to together.

9.   Send each other pictures: Whether it’s asking them advice about an outfit or showing off your new dorm décor, sending pictures can be super helpful to maintain contact.

10. Make a scrapbook: Feeling nostalgic? Make a book with inside jokes, pictures, song lyrics, glitter; whatever reminds you of your friendship is fair game.
