It’s no surprise that fashion trends evolve every year, reflecting shifts in culture and mood. This year, the clothing landscape is defined by bold choices and fresh perspectives. Vibrant and fun colors such as electric blue, citrus orange, pastel green, and yellow are taking center stage, adding energy and optimism to wardrobes. Meanwhile, popular styles are gravitating toward relaxed silhouettes, oversized blazers, and utilitarian details like materials—including plaid, lace, leather and many more—that offer a creative way to express individuality. Whether you prefer minimalist or maximalist looks, there’s something in this year’s trends for everyone, making it an exciting time to refresh your style. When I was researching fall trends, I studied social media trends as seen on TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Plaid

Plaid is a very popular pattern for fall 2026. It can be worn in so many different ways, whether it is a plaid skirt, layering piece, jacket, or pants. Plaid is easy to pair with other articles of clothing, making it a simple way to add a fall feel to an outfit.

Lace

Lace is bringing a more feminine and romantic look to fall outfits this year. This year people are layering lace tops and skirts with sweaters, jackets, and other fall pieces. This creates a fun and flirty look to what would otherwise be a simple outfit.

Ballet Flats

Ballet flats are back again this fall. They are an easy alternative to sneakers and can make a casual outfit look a little more put together. They can be worn with jeans, skirts, dresses, or even more relaxed outfits. There are some really interesting designs of ballet flats. Some flats are incorporate lace, while some add a fun pop of color to an outfit.

Loafers

Loafers continue to be a popular choice for fall for what feels like to be the 3rd year in a row. They work especially well with preppy outfits, jeans, pants, and skirts. Adding socks with loafers can also give an outfit more of that classic fall and school-inspired look, which is seeming increasingly more popular.

Tall Boots

Tall boots are another fall staple that are making a comeback this year. They can be paired with dresses, skirts, jeans, or even layered under longer coats. They are a great way to stay warm while still making an outfit look stylish. It is also very common to see tall socks peeking out from underneath the boot. This will add a extra cozy element to the outfit.

Capris

Capris are becoming more popular again and are being styled in a completely different way than they were years ago. They are commonly paired with flats, loafers, sneakers, or boots and dressed up or down depending on the outfit. Capris in the fall is chefs kiss- perfect for those breezy but warm fall tempetures!

Baggy Jackets

Baggy and oversized jackets are continuing to be a trend. They give outfits a more relaxed look while also making layering simple. Simply by adding a cardigan or sweater underneath the jacket can make it look much more dynamic and thought out. Oversized jackets are especially good in the colder months of fall.

Track Pants

Track pants are being styled outside of the gym and are becoming more of an everyday fashion piece. They can be paired with fitted or loose tops. Track pants are one of those items you can wear when you want to be comfortable and yet chic.

Leather

Leather is one of those materials that always comes back when fall arrives. This year, leather jackets, skirts, pants, and accessories can be seen styled in both casual and dressier outfits. Leather oversized jackets and leather purses make for a simple and easy way to add a bit of dimension into an outfit. I personally love thrifting for baggy leather jackets (check the men’s section!)

Corduroy

Corduroy is a soft, textured fabric with vertical lines that give it its signature ribbed look. It is especially popular during the fall because it feels cozy and adds more texture to an outfit. Corduroy pants and jackets are common items I’ve seen trending and can be styled for a casual or more put-together fall look.

A really fun outfit you could make is pick a few elements or pieces from this list and incorporate them all into one outfit to make an ultimate fall fit that is guaranteed to get you compliments. For example, you could pair a baggy leather jacket, with ballet flats, a plaid skirt, and a basic top. This incorporates 4 items from this article (baggy jacket, leather, ballet flats, and plaid).
