If there is one thing you should know about my family, it’s that we always have a trip planned. This summer, we went to five different states on three different vacations.
For the Fourth of July, we spent the weekend at Myrtle Beach with my cousins. We rented an Airbnb on the beach. We spent our days walking on the beach and hanging out in the water. It was extra windy on the last day so the waves were pushing us back and forth quite aggressively, but it was so fun. We couldn’t even talk to each other because the second that we would open our mouths, a wave would come and completely submerge us into the water. We walked along the pier on the Fourth of July and watched the fireworks later that night. My favorite part was walking to a coffee shop with my cousins in the morning. Overall, we had such a great time on this vacation.
On my next trip, I went with my mom and my little sister. We got to Massachusetts and spent our first day in Boston. We spent our second day exploring Maine. Maine is probably the most beautiful state in the U.S. that I have been to. We spent the morning taking in the view from the a light house in York and walking along the water. We then drove to Ogunquit, Maine. We ate lobster rolls at a restaurant called Barnacle Billys and went shopping and walked along the water some more. We spent the day after that one in Boston. We started out our morning at the Isabella Stewart Garner Museum which was just stunning. There were a lot of artifacts from the 1300s and the 1400s, which I thought was really cool. We then spent the rest of the day on a hop-on hop-off tour. We pretty much got to see all of Boston on the tour. The next day, we went to Salem, Massachusetts. I’ve been wanting to come here for such a long time, so I’m really grateful that we got to go. We saw a lot of the houses and buildings from Hocus Pocus, the Witch House, the famous witch statue, the memorial for the Salem witch trials and we went shopping. We spent the day after that in New Hampshire at the beach. We went to Rye beach and it was beautiful but the water was ice cold, so we couldn’t swim. The rest of the day was spent back in Boston. We went to view Boston in the prudential center and got Blank Street matcha’s while we were there. We also walked to Brandy Melville, since my little sister really wanted to go. We ended our day with the Boston Tea Party experience. We literally got to throw tea off of a ship which was cool. I had the absolute best time on this trip.
The last trip of the summer was a weekend trip to Chicago. We started the day at the Willis Tower since we had tickets for the Chicago 360. We spent a lot of time there taking pictures and after we got coffee at Joe and The Juice. We walked around the city for a while before going to get a deep dish pizza for lunch. We then went to the mall and did this flyover Chicago experience. It is just like the ride Soarin’ Around the World in Disney World, but it just goes over Chicago. We also did the flyover Canada experience, which was quite random but we enjoyed it nonetheless. I then got a Chicago hot dog before going on a boat tour. We went at the perfect time because it started just as the sun was setting and we got to see all the city light once it got dark out. The next morning was spent having the breakfast of champions, Nutella. We went to the only Nutella cafe at work and it was so worth it. We then walked around Chicago some more, saw the Buckingham fountain, the bean and walked along the water before heading back.
My family already has our next summer trips planned and I could not be more excited. I am forever grateful that my family values experiences such as these and I can not wait to spend my next summer abroad.
