Ella Langley released her latest album, Dandelion, on Friday, April 10th. Dandelion, is her second ever album following Hungover. The songs from this album that are consistently stuck in my head are: “Loving Life Again”, “Butterfly Season” featuring Miranda Lambert, and “Somethin’ Simple”. On April 24th, Ella and Morgan Wallen released a duet called “I Can’t Love You Anymore” which was teased in her “Choosin’ Texas” music video.

Four others are Country Risers that contains “You & Me Time” and “Butterfly Season”, Today’s Country with “Bottom Of Your Boots”, “Be Her”, “Choosin’ Texas”, and “Dandelion”, Best New Songs that has “Bottom Of Your Boots”, and finally Today’s Hits that has “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her”

my rankings
17. Froggy went a courtin’
I’m not sure if you count the intro and outro songs as part of your rankings, but I do. Obviously these are not full songs and just add to the overall experience of listening to the album down the track list (which I highly recommend, especially for this album).
16. I gotta quit
This song personally just is not my vibe. I understand the premise and have related to it because there have been times when I could not get someone off of my mind. However, the background music and overall song are not something I would listen to personally.
“Everywhere I go, everything I see/Even in my dreams, it’s haunting me/Tell me what I gotta say, tell me what I gotta do/’Cause damn it, I gotta quit thinkin’ ’bout you”
15. it wasn’t god who made honky tonk angels
This is a cover of a song with the same title, made popular in 1952 by Kitty Wells.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“Too many times married men think they’re still single/That has cause many a good girl to go wrong”
“It’s a shame that all the blame is on us women (Haha)/It’s not true that only you men feel the same/From the start, most every heart that’s ever broken/Was because there always was a man to blame”
14. low lights
This song is honestly just not for me, however, I can see why others would enjoy it.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“I don’t wanna care what I think/When I’m thinking like that/So tonight I’m giving in”
“I ain’t never seen something shine so bright/Underneath these low lights”
13. last call for us
Very relatable. More specifically, when you know that things are and should be over between you and someone else.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“That it’s last call for us/It’s a sad, sad tune/That after these drinks, you’ll let go of me/And I’ll let go of you”
“We ain’t ever gonna make this work/Let’s close it out and go our separate ways”
12. we know us
This song simply just makes sense. Lyrically, haven’t we all been there at some point? It reminds me of a “situationship” style romance or rekindling with an ex.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“We know we’re better off so but can we just pretend?/We don’t know how this ends”
“If we know us/Yeah, we’re going to mess this up”
11. be her
I would have loved this song in high school! It has the “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town spirit. Also, for musical lovers this reminds me of “I’m Not That Girl” from Wicked. Like I wish I could be her or be like her so badly. There is a TikTok trend to this song which is the first lyrics I have below!
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“She knows being rich is just a state of mind/She stays talking to Jesus, calls her mama all the time/She don’t over embellish, if she says it, then it’s true/I don’t mean to sound jealous, but what could I do ’cause”
“She drinks wine by the glass, not by the bottle/She ain’t stuck on the past, ain’t worried about tomorrow”
10. broken
Listening to this song and “Empty Words” by Corey Kent just makes sense in my brain. His lyrics “She’s over empty words/Half-hearted apologies/My broken promises” sounds like his side when she says “Can we skip all the talkin’, baby?/Just let me be broken”. This song also reminds me of Vincent Mason’s new single “Don’t Ask Me”.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“Tears just fall on a hardwood floor/Gonna wonder why, gonna wonder what for/Don’t ask if I’m doin’ all right/Can we skip all the talkin’, baby?/ Just let me, just let me, just let me be broken”
9. you & me time
Reminds me of “You Time” by one of my all time favorite artists, Scotty McCreery. It also reminds me of Morgan Wallen’s song “Little Rain”. Which is so ironic since they are releasing a new duet soon!
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“I’ve been real busy, boy, you’ve been real busy too/Lettin’ that calendar slip, that ain’t no good excuse”
“You and me could use just a little bit of me and you time”
8. speaking terms
This song is so perfect. It is exactly how I have felt before being a Christian and wondering if God is hearing you and if He will reply to what you’re saying. If you like this song and the lyrics, I would encourage you to listen to “How Ya Doin’ Up There” by Scotty McCreery and “Dear God” by Hunter Hayes.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“I carry on this one way conversation/I’m listening but You don’t say a word/If Your answer’s in the silence, I’ll be patient/But it’s hard to know my prayers are being heard/I’m waiting on a whisper, just something to confirm that/You and me are still on speaking terms”
“I mostly come around now when things aren’t working out/I show up with my questions, my stumbles, and my doubts/Always thinking of myself, and always asking You for help”
7. choosin’ texas
This song was so good when released as a single! It is consistently played on the radio and almost everyone has heard it, even non-country music listeners.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“And judgin’ by the smile that’s written on his face/There’s nothin’ I can do/It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see/A cowboy always finds a way to leave”
6. dandelion
In “Dandelion” Ella talks about how she isn’t similar to other women, especially those of higher class and are more popular. She is relates more to a slower paced life and has also been overlooked like many of us listeners. There has been a TikTok trend to this song and that lyric is the first one listed down below!
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“Been a little overlooked, yeah, all my life/Well, least I made you look maybe once or twice”
“Born to live free, ridin’ on a breeze/On a summer night/Tucked back in the weeds, guess that’s just me”
“No stranger to a dirt road or a country muddy rivеr bank/If you’re pickin’ me, you oughta know/I wasn’t made for a fancy crystal vase/A mason jar and old blue jeans, from my roots to my boots, I’ll always be”
5. loving life again
Not only is this a hit on TikTok, but it is also a hit on my playlist. It is such a happy and uplifting vibe. It reminds me of just taking things slowly and that any day can be a good day when in the proper mindset. The TikTok trend lyric is the first one listed down below!
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“Just like that I’m back to loving life again”
“I know I ain’t the only one who thinks about that settin’ sun/Settlin’ on down into the night, and puts it on rewind”
4. most good things do (acoustic)
Very relatable post breakup. Most good things and daily life things remind you of that person and it is a bit miserable since they cannot leave your brain. Nonetheless, when good things happen to you, you want to reach out to them and let them know but can’t.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“It’s hard moving on when it all reminds me of you/Hell to tell the truth/Most good things, most good things do”
3.somethin’ simple
These lyrics are so relatable, in the end you are always chasing something that you don’t have. Before obtaining her dream, she wanted it so bad. However, now that she has it she’s ready for a slower pace and something much simpler to come home to. I love the last lyric listed below!
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“I used to want this so bad, I swore I could taste it/Did anything and everything it took/Took a lot to get where I’m at so I ain’t gonna waste it”
“When I lay there and close my eyes/I’m lookin’ for somethin’ simple”
“Ain’t it kinda funny how the prayers you pray tend to change sometimes?”
2. butterfly season ft. miranda lambert
I adore this song. It is about personal growth and changes in life. I love how it is a duet with a country music legend, Miranda Lambert. This song is forever on repeat.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“Don’t even know her/That girl from last October/Right now, I’d like to show her/Who we’ve turned into/How flowers look in June/When we’re on to something new”
“It’s butterfly season, I’m finding my wings/A good time for leaving behind the old me/Headed for blue skies and lavender fields/Don’t know where I’m landing”
1. bottom of your boots
I love this song! It is so relatable, telling someone that you have higher standards than this and if you are not serious about me then please move on. If you like the premise of this song then I recommend the song “Love Me Or Don’t” by Jason Aldean.
My favorite lyrics from this song include:
“Boy if your heart’s/A revolving door/Yeah that’s alright/But I’m looking for more/If you’re gonna love me/Lay it on table/Tell me how you really feel give it a label/If you’re gonna hold me/Don’t just hold me all night/Better hold me like you wanna hold me for the rest of your life/If you’re gonna love me/Better love me to the moon and back/From the bottom of your boots, to the top of your hat”
