2026 is going to be a standout year for the film industry. A mix of blockbuster franchises, fresh adaptations, and long-anticipated projects are scheduled to hit theaters. Here’s everything worth getting excited about.

This is an especially exciting year for Marvel fans. The long anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be coming out July 31. If you are a Spider-Man fan like me, you are probably counting down the days. The last Spider-Man movie came out in December of 2021, so this movie has been very much anticipated by those who support the franchise. Tom Holland is the first actor to star in more than three Spider-Man movies, which makes this release extra noteworthy. Additionally, Marvel is coming out with another Avengers movie titled Avengers: Doomsday, which will be coming out on December 18. The aspect that makes Avengers movies special is that they pull together many of Marvel’s major characters and storylines from across the MCU and are incredibly action-packed, which keeps fans always wanting more. There is no doubt that these two movies are some of the most, if not the most, anticipated movies of 2026.

Not only is 2026 a highly awaited year for MCU fans, but also for DC fans with Supergirl coming out on June 26th. This movie will follow Supergirl on a journey across space, and as shown in the Superman movie that came out this year, she will be traveling with her dog, Krypto. If this movie is anything like the Superman movie that came out this year, there is sure to be long-lasting hype around it.

The next movies mentioned are all Disney movies that are sure to be a big hit for the box office. The first movie coming out is Toy Story 5 on June 19th. This was definitely a surprise to all, and with the 5th installment, the franchise will continue its legacy as one of the most enduring Pixar/Disney film series. A little less than a month later, on July 10th, the live-action Moana film will be coming out in theaters. Additionally, Minions 3 will be coming out on July 1st.

The Hunger Games saga continues with The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. This will be the 5th installment in this franchise.

Other titles that will be out in 2026 are The Devil Wears Prada 2, which will be in theaters on May 1st. The announcement of this movie came as a surprise in 2024, as the first one came out 19 years ago in 2006. Additionally, Jumanji 3 is currently in the works and will be coming out in theaters on December 11th. The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, will be out in theaters on July 17th. This will make an iconic month for Tom Holland as he will be starring in The Odyssey as well as the new Spider-Man movie, both coming out this July. A new adaptation of Masters of The Universe will be out on June 5th. Another new adaptation of the well renowned Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, will be out on Valentine’s Day. Of course, there are many other blockbuster films coming out in 2026 that are sure to make an immense impact for the film industry and the viewers. These are just a handful to look forward to and mark your calendars in anticipation for what’s to come (and where all your money will go).
