As a person with a period, we have all fell victim to the typical “normal” period products such as pads and tampons. Although this is the “normal” way to have and handle your period, it isn’t the best, eco-friendly, or budget-friendly. According to Now.org, the average woman spends $20 a cycle on products, that’s $18,000 over the course of a lifetime. Period products are expensive. For most people with periods, the options are limited and the variety sucks. There are sport tampons but those come with a higher price point. There’s pantyliners with fragrance but that isn’t healthy. There isn’t a lot of variety or going away from the period “norm”.

Enter- Period Underwear

As an eco-friendly, budget-friendly girlboss, I had to try period underwear. When VS Pink dropped their line, I knew I had to try them! I snagged a few pairs and was pleasantly surprised. They were comfortable, leak-proof, sleek, not ugly, and held as much as two tampons worth while maintaining a light-weight feel! I was so impressed I knew I had to get more and reimagine my period.

Victoria Secret- PInk

VS Pink has a few different styles of period underwear: thongs, boyshorts, hipsters, pajama shorts and bikini style. My person favorite are the hipsters for a more medium-level, everyday wear. These can run a bit expensive but typically they have a sale on them, I have bought pairs from $3.99-$20 and sets range from $20-$99 depending on which one you settle on. I would suggest getting them when they have their end of year sale or asking for some for a holiday or birthday!

Hanes

Hanes is a reliable underwear brand that has recently started doing period underwear. Once I caught wind of this I knew I had to try them! I settled with the moderate, higher waisted neutral style. For $15 this 3-pack did not disappoint! I was shocked at the absorbency and the comfortability. These aren’t as nice as the VS Pink period underwear but are perfect for affordability and reliability. They don’t have the cutest colors or styles but they will def get the job done!
