If you’re anything like me, when you start a good show its really hard to stop. This my friends, is what we
call binge-worthy tv. A show that is simply so good and captivating you end up watching the whole thing
in a day or over the course of a weekend. Here are some of the shows that I have binged recently and
what makes them SO great!
1. The Politician
This show is SO good! Not only does it star my favorite broadway star, Ben Platt,
but it also has his Dear Evan Hansen co-star, Laura Dreyfuss, and rising star Theo Germaine. This
show follows Ben Platt’s character as he tries to win senior class president as a stepping stone to
his road to the white house. He is a driven, determined, and kind of cold character. He has his
friends and girlfriend by his side to help him as he navigates the high campaign trail, the suicide
of a friend/lover, and family turmoil. I started watching the first episode and couldn’t stop. You
see the characters struggling with all sorts of different topics and did I mention it has some
FANTASTIC LGBTQ+ representation? From bisexual characters, nonbinary nongender conforming
characters, to a straight male character played by the only and only Theo Germaine who himself
is a trans man. 10/10 would recommend.
2. Big Mouth
I was kind of hesitant about this one at first honestly. I am a huge fan of Nick Kroll
and John Mulaney and this show is a perfect collaboration. You follow middle schoolers as they
tackle their sexuality, the politics of being a teenager, and learning about sex education. Parts of
this show are definitely cringey but also are so accurate and informational. The characters are
relatable, and it has a killer cast. John Mulaney, Nick Kroll, Maya Rudolph, Alli Wong, Jason
Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Gina Rodriguez, are just some of the incredible voice
actors for this show. If you like things that are a little more raunchy but also educational and
comical, this is a good show to binge.
3. Grace and Frankie
This show is strange but also so funny. You follow Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin
as they navigate their new lives as women in their 70s whose husbands left them to be with
each other. They figure out how to date again, how to navigate their family lives now that they’re
separated but also still linked. You see their kids reactions and how they deal with it as they do
their best to be happy for their dads but also help their moms. These women couldn’t be more
different but they make it work and even create a business together. This show is one that I
watch over and over again. The newest season comes out soon and I am so excited! This show
had me in stitches but also made me cry harder than I have with any other show. It also has
helped me to realize that I want to be Lily Tomlin when I grow up. Go check it out!
4. Glow
This show follows a group of female wrestlers in the 80s. They start a TV show in which
they have built characters and rivals and compete in wrestling matches. You see these girls learn
to wrestle, learn to work together, and you get an insight on the way women were treated in the
80s in the entertainment field. Each of the girls has a different goal and reason for joining Glow.
You see them grow and travel with this show. The best part is, it’s based on a true story!! This
show also has a stellar cast including former Community cast member, Alison Brie. Definitely not
a show to watch with your kids, but super entertaining and reels you in from the getgo.
5. Lucifer
OH BOY IS THIS SHOW GOOD!!! In this show you follow Lucifer Morningstar, aka the
devil, living in LA and owning a bar. He does favors for poor mortals living in the star studded city
and eventually finds himself working with the LA PD helping to solve cases alongside a beautiful
blonde partner. He goes to therapy, his angel brother comes to bring him back to hell (doesn’t
work), and his partner in crime down in hell helps him along the way. This show gives you the
best combination of supernatural and crime. If you like supernatural or any sort of crime show,
this is a PERFECT show for you. It is definitely my favorite show that I have binged and it’s a must
see.
