Andrew Brenner ’18

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bowdoin chapter.

Major: economicsHometown: Waltham, MARelationship Status: SingleCampus Activities: rugby, track, intramural hockey, working at Jack Magee’s (he makes those delicious french fries on Sunday nights)

HC: What do you look for in a potential partner?AB: “One thing I look for in a girl is that she’s not too shy, but not too aggressive. She knows what she wants, and she’ll try to get it, but she’s not overly aggressive in her approach. Another thing I look for in a girl is that she cares about others. She has to be a good dancer, too.”

HC: What are some of your biggest turn-offs?AB: “I would say one of my biggest turn-offs is when a girl doesn’t know how to control herself (whether she’s intoxicated or not). Having control of your faculties is really important, and it’s just very off-putting when a girl is too sloppy.”

HC: What would you do on your dream date?AB: “I always think of a dream date as being like, ‘Oh, we’ll go to the beach and have a really nice dinner,’ but I feel like the best kind of date is on a day when it’s really rainy or snowy where you just stay at home, cook a homemade meal, then sit by the fire and watch TV. Somewhere where it’s cozy and you can just sit and have a nice time with each other.”

HC: What’s your best quality?AB: “I think one of my best qualities is that I’m pretty easygoing. I’m just relaxed, and I’m good about going with the flow. I take what life throws at me.”

HC: What are some causes or issues that matter to you?AB: “One cause that’s really important to me is kids with special needs. It’s been a big part of my life because my dad was in an organization that helped kids with special needs. We started this program in town to help kids with special needs play baseball. The little league that I played at was really big into helping the community; and someone heard that another town had implemented this kind of program, and we thought, ‘Why not do it here?’”

HC: What’s a fun fact about you?AB: “Apparently, when I was two or three years old, my parents and I went to Canada. We went to a Go-Kart track, and they just put me on a Go-Kart and told me how to go, but never how to stop. So I was going around in circles over and over, and my dad said about halfway through, he saw my face turn from a huge smile to a face of pure terror. The people running the Go-Kart track had to jump on the back of the Go-Kart and hit the brake for me.”

HC: Do you have advice for anyone that wants to get to know you better?AB: “Just talk to me! I’m a pretty approachable guy. Come say hi to me anywhere.”
