The Friendsy frenzy is fading fast, but once upon a time (aka before spring break), the Bowdoin campus was buzzing with the campus-friend-tinderish-app-thing. Sadly, the trend is starting to fade, but before you delete your Friendsy experience from your phone, let’s re-live the memories with a few of the people you might have encountered:
1) The Actual Friend: You were probably sitting next to this person at dinner as you downloaded Friendsy. It goes without saying that the verdict is: Mutual Friend, Hookup, and Date
2) The Friend Crush: This person is someone you might not talk to every day, but the almost-friendship is real. You just keep noticing their coolness — but do they notice you? You are legitimately overjoyed when you get that mutual friend notification! Verdict: Mutual Friend
3) The Acquaintance:Ok, so you don’t really know this person — maybe you have class together, maybe you just see each other around a lot. It’s like friending on Facebook — it’s just nice to have a lot of mutuals. Verdict: Mutual Friend
4) The Rando“Someone from Penn State wants to date you!” This notification is and will remain a mystery. Who is this admirer from faraway lands? How did they find you? How does this even happen? These questions, sadly, will never be answered. Verdict: Hookup or Date
5) The Accidental Mutual:Maybe it was supposed to be a joke, maybe just a friendly gesture…but somehow you managed an unintentional mutual hookup/date. It’s a little awkward, especially because all he/she was supposed to know is that ‘Someone from Bowdoin College wants to hook up with you!’
6) The Curiosity Mutual:On the other side of the Accidental Mutual is the Curiosity Mutual. You got that notification, did a little research, and the research paid off. You found them! And then things get a little weird because….now what?
7) The Friendsy Bae:So you thought s/he was cute and hit the date button…and it was mutual!
