Boise has for years been known as a great place to live and raise a family… which is nice and all. In recent years, however, our lovely city has been receiving increased attention for its up-and-coming music scene. As a result of this new phenomenon, Treefort Music Fest was established two years back and has since created a lot a buzz in the Northwest. The dates for this festival this year are March 20th–23rd. Treefort is modeled after South by Southwest— but it is much more than a music festival. There are lots of other creative outlets for festival-goers, such as Yoga Fort, Story Fort, Hack Fort and Film Fest– some of the newest additions to Treefort. There are over 300 artists from all over the country participating in this year’s event and seventeen different performance venues.
This fest has put Boise on the map for up-and-coming musicians across the country and provides both support and a creative outlet for many young musicians. Treefort does not use corporate sponsors and relies heavily on the local community for support. Four-day passes are offered and can be purchased online at treefortmusicfest.com. This is a green festival and an awesome Spring Break idea if you are planning on staying in the Boise area!
