The Arcade Building: the Best New Hangout in Boise

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Boise State chapter.

Need a break from studying at the same old coffee shops or hidden nooks of the library? At Her Campus Boise State, we cefinitely know how you feel. Fortunately, for all you creative souls out there who are looking for a new local hangout, the Arcade Building is right up your alley! Whether you are in the mood for some shopping or simply just looking for a cool place to study, the Arcade Building is the place to be.

What exactly is the Aracade Building, you ask?

The Arcade Building is located on State Street between 16th and 17th. It is a collective art space where artists and people from the local community come together in a creative sanctuary– and so much more. It also includes a unique consignment store, a photography studio, and The Fort– a space that can be used for business meetings and study sessions. Yes– you read that correctly: STUDY SESSIONS IN A FORT! The Fort is equipped with printing and kitchen access, too.

The founders of this shared space, the Arcade Building, are the passionate Mindi Burt and Erika Hendrix. Their mission is to use this space to its full potential within the Boise art community by establishing a place for creative collaboration among local artists from which the general public stands to benefit.

Upcoming events at the Arcade Building

Every first Saturday of the month, the Arcade Building hosts an open house for everyone in the Boise community. Be sure to swing by to check out the latest art being displayed! Free coffee and a free photobooth are also available at the event, along with a plethora of clothing, artwork, trinkets, jewlery, and furnishings for sale that will make you want to spend your entire paycheck. Lastly, word on the street is that Workshop Wednesdays will be coming to the Arcade Building in the near future. At Workshop Wednesdays, artists, musicians, and crafty people will come together to provide a workshop and learning opportunity for highly energized Boise community members.
