There are a few things that as an upper classman you know you’ll need to survive in the dorms, so here are some tips for you first year students!

1. A box fan- for all the nights where you’re trying to sleep but everyone else in your hall is turning up.

2. Food for the munchies – For whenever you get back from a party or you’re just bored. Make sure to try and make it a somewhat healthy snack.

3. Cleaning supplies – You’d be surprised how dirty your room will get very fast.

4. A baseball cap- You need to have some way to cover up the dirty hair that we’re all too lazy to go clean.

5. A re-usable water bottle –  let’s be honest, it’s a lot easier to go out and buy one re-usable bottle than to continue buying 24 packs and lugging them from your car. Not to mention it’s eco-friendly.

6. Tea and honey – It’s inevitable that most of us will get sick at least once during the semester. Might as well come prepared!

7. A wristlet wallet – If you wear a lanyard you stand out as a freshman. A wristlet wallet is much more convenient and always at your disposal.

8. A robe- I know how much we all love to just hand out in our towel after taking a shower but with a robe you can do that without the chance of accidentally flashing someone.

9. Comfortable bedding- Sleep is one of the most important things to get in college. A comfortable mattress topper, fluffy comfortable, blanket, and a ton of pillows will ensure that you get those 8 hours.

10. Decorations – Without decorations, your dorms room will continue to look similar to a jail cell. You don’t want that do you?

11. A white board- A white board is one of the easiest ways to get to know people on your floor when you first move in. Anyone can write their name and a message, and then you get to know them from there.

12. An extension cord- With all of those decorations come a lot of outlets being needed I recommend a 6 plug or more extension cord.

13. A cheap pair of flip flops- Trust me, you will want flip flops in the dorm showers. We know that they hire personnel to clean the bathrooms, but they’re not there 24/7 so you never know what happened in there.

Hello, my name is Lauren and I'm a Junior Marketing major at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.  I enjoy taking hikes, traveling, playing with animals, checking the latest fashions, and scrolling through Pinterest while enjoying my morning coffee.  My favorite movie has always been A Cinderella Story, specifically the original one with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray.  In my spare time I'm usually reading a romantic novel, hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, or eating peanut butter by the spoonful.  Hope you enjoy my posts!
Hi, guys!
