With Fashion Month slowly wrapping up, some of the most recognizable faces have been seen front row at every show in New York, London, Milan and Paris. Celebrities, models, muses — all can be seen taking in the gorgeous looks for next spring. But the front row isn’t always filled with just boy band members and party girls. In fact, most of the attendees at a fashion shows are the most important people in the fashion industry. But, who are they? Sure, everyone knows Anna Wintour and Marc Jacobs but what about the less recognizable people behind the most glamourous professions? HCBloomsburg gives you all the details!

Lauren Santo Domingo – founder of Moda Operandi, contributing editor at Vogue

A graduate of University of Southern California, Santo Domingo started her career as a fashion assistant at Vogue where she is now a contributing editor. In 2010, she founded the website Moda Operandi which allows buyers to purchase their favorite pieces right off the runway in online trunkshows. Santo Domingo served as a co-chair for the 2013 Met Gala while Moda Operandi was a sponsor. Vogue called her 2008 wedding to Andres Santo Domingo the “wedding of the year” and she is frequently cited as one of the world’s most recognizable style authorities.

Derek Blasberg – Editor At Large of Harper’s Bazaar, blogger, New York Times Best Selling Author

If you don’t trust us on this one, just Google Derek Blasberg and you will find a million pictures of him hanging out with everyone from models to designers to actresses to busniess titans. From a small town in St. Louis, Missouri, Blasberg graduated with degrees in Dramatic Literature and Journalism from New York University. His first job was an assistant at Vogue and has since become Editor at Large of Harper’s Bazaar and has made a name for himself at Women’s Wear Daily, The New York Times and W, among others. In 2010, Blasberg published Classy: Exceptional Adivce for the Extremely Modern Lady, a series of humorous essays regarding 21st century etiquette.

Mario Testino – photographer 

Born in Peru, Testino moved to London in 1976 to study photography. Entirely self-made, Testino worked his way into shooting spreads for Vogue and Vanity Fair, eventually landing campaigns for Gucci, Burberry, Michael Kors, Versace, and Valentino. He has since become one of the world’s most well-known and celebrated fashion photographers and has shot fashion stories with celebrities from Gwyneth Paltrow to Margret Thatcher to Kate Moss to Madonna. He is even credited with launching Gisele Bundchen’s career as a supermodel with his photos of her. He photographed the iconic images of Diana, Princess of Wales for Vanity Fair and has since taken the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official engagement photos in his capacity as the official photographer of the British Royal Family.

Erika Bearman – Head of Global Public Relations for Oscar de la Renta

More commonly know as OscarPRGirl, Erika Bearman might be one of the luckiest girls in the world. Working inside one of the most presitigous fashion houses in the world, Bearman uses her Twitter handle to allow the public a look inside the glamourous ateliers of Oscar de la Renta and a glimpse of the man himself at work. Bearman can be seen at every major fashion and cultural event, of course dressed in Oscar de la Renta. She was even named to Vanity Fair‘s 2012 International Best Dressed List, but when her closet is Oscar’s entire collection, how could you not?

Leandra Medine – blogger, author

The genius behind the blog Man Repeller, Medine is one of fashion’s most prominent young voices. A graduate of The New School, Medine started Man Repeller in May of 2011. It has since grown into a huge multimedia outlet franchise based on Medine’s thoughts on everything fashion and trends. In 2012, she was named to Forbes‘ “Top 30 Under 30” list as one of the year’s most influential trendsetters and her blog was named to TIME‘s “25 Best Blogs of 2012.”

Terry Richardson – photographer

Most of you may recognize Terry Richardson as the photographer who happened to catch Kate Upton dancing on video which then went viral on YouTube. But Richardson is actually an accomplished fashion photographer, having shot editorials that appeared in Vogue, GQ, Rolling Stone and other prominent magazines which have included subjects from President Barack Obama to Kanye West. He also shoots advertising campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent amd Tom Ford. Most recently, Richardson directed Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” music video.

Hamish Bowles – International Editor at Large of Vogue

As a style director at Harper & Queens magazine in 1992, Hamish Bowles met new Edior in Chief of Vogue Anna Wintour at his home in London. Immediately after their meeting was over, Wintour offered him a job as style editor at Vogue and the rest is history. According to Voguepedia, Hamish Bowles’s responsibilities include “overseeing all interior-design features, writing profile stories, and covering fashion and contemporary culture, as well as the history of fashion and style.” What else? He writes for Vogue Daily, posts his opinions from Paris Fashion Week, and, in his downtime, curates the odd museum exhibit or two.

Karlie Kloss – model

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 3 years, chances are you have definitely seen 21 year old Karlie Kloss’ face somewhere — if not everywhere! Discovered at a local charity fashion show in St. Louis, Missouri, Kloss first appeared in Vogue in December 2008. Kloss was the most featured and photographed model in the magainze during 2009. Landing campaigns for Oscar de la Renta, Dior, Hermes, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabana and Alexander McQueen, Kloss has become almost ubiquitous in every fashion conversation around the world. Waking in nearly every show in the Spring/Summer 2011 season, she opened ten shows and closed eight. She has also teamed with Momofuku Milk Bar to create “Karlie’s Kookies” which are sold at events like Fashion’s Night Out and the DKNY Spring/Summer 2014 show to benefit hungry children through the FEED Projects.
