Her Campus: What made you choose to come to Bloomsburg?
Sibel Rasim: I chose Bloomsburg because I needed something new and exciting in my life, which was definitely not what I was getting from my hometown. I saw the potential to make an impact and do big things at Bloomsburg. It was a homey feel and everyone seemed to happy to be there. The campus is gorgeous and I already felt proud of being a Bloomsburg Husky the first time I walked on to campus. Also, I am a food addict, and the food is amazing here!

HC: What activities are you involved in on campus?
SR: I am involved in Community Government Association, Orientation Workshop Leaders, Mentoring for the Sophomore Success Program, DASL-Developing Ambitious Student Leaders, PSEA, Board of Governors, A-Club (Academic Excellence Club), and I am a tour guide for the Bloomsburg Office of Admissions.

HC: Being an OWL, you must give tours all the time! Do you ever get tired of showing high-school students around campus?
SR: As a tour guide for the admissions office and for OWLs, I do have to give tours all the time and it seems that every time I find something new or something to love even more about the campus. I like make my tours personal and giving students in site into what they really want to know (like the amazing buffalo chicken pizza at the Husky Lounge for late night or that the Bloomsburg Husky app can tell you exactly what computers are avaiable in the library at all times). It’s so refreshing to see the reactions of students and parents while the look around our campus and listen to all the interesting things going on, they usually have the same reaction I did when I visited: I love it here.

HC: Where do you see yourself after graduation?
SR: After graduation, I definitely see myself going to grad school here at BU. I love it here too much to leave and the programs I am in really are the best of the best. I created such an impact on the campus and on myself with everything I am involved in that I would love to continue with all of that here. I would also like to find a job as an elementary school teacher, probably in 2nd grade, in a more urban area.

HC: If you could alter one aspect of Bloomsburg University, what would it be?
SR: I’ve gotten a taste of a little bit of everything at Bloomsburg University, including parking tickets. I would really love if they had more parking on campus.

HC: What is the biggest non-academic lesson you’ve learned at Bloom?
SR: Do big things! Never settle for whatever the people around you are doing. Do your own thing and be your own person, no matter what that means.

Favorite…
…spot on campus? CGA office (amazing couches)
…class at Bloom? Multicultural Education or Behavioral Interventions with Dr. Wilson
…place to eat off campus? Berrigans or Olive Garden
…song of the moment? I DJ, so this is so hard but I’ll go with something more personal and say Wake Me Up by Ed Sheeran or Holy Grail by JayZ and Justin Timberlake.
