Jordan Stimeling

Year: JuniorMajor: Interpersonal Communications. Minor: Sociology / Concentration: Family, Children, and Youth.

Go-to App: MyFitnessPalFavorite quote: “Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt.”

Her Campus: What made you get involved with CGA?Jordan Stimeling: I wanted to become involved within the campus community to make a positive impact on the university.  I stumbled upon CGA at the Student Activities Fair and talked to the executive members about the organization at that time.  They made it sound like a great way to become involved so I decided to go to the open meeting about it.  I always wanted to be a part of the student government and this was my opportunity to do so.  I ran as an On-Campus Senator and won the election my freshman year.

HC: What is your current position in CGA?JS: Executive Treasurer

HC: What position are you running for?JS: Executive Treasurer

HC: Why do you think you’re the best choice for the position? JS: I have been a part of CGA since my freshman year at Bloomsburg University.  I served as an On-Campus Senate Representative for two years and now am serving as the Treasurer on the Executive Board.  When I served as an On-Campus Senator, I was a member of the Finance Committee, which gives student clubs and organizations the opportunity to request additional financial support to attend academic conferences.  Now as the head of the Finance Committee, I work closely with other student leaders to help expand and benefit their organizations on campus.  The Treasurer also leads the annual Budget Meeting and I have the knowledge and expertise of leading the meeting.  CGA also organizes the Big Event, a one-day community service project where Bloomsburg University students give a big thank you to the Town of Bloomsburg.  I have helped prep for this event two years in a row and this year I have been the Head of the Equipment Committee for this one-day project.  The Executive Board and I have worked closely with several members of the community and other organizations to make this project expand and grow every year.  Since becoming Treasurer, I have gained the necessary leadership skills for this position and will work hard to serve the students of Bloomsburg University.

HC: What other organizations are you involved in? JS: I am a second year Community Assistant in Elwell Residence Hall and a Board of Governors Scholar.  As a Community Assistant, I serve as a positive role model to establish an academic and civil atmosphere for residents by promoting academic excellence, addressing student needs, and encouraging involvement among residents in a way that supports the mission of the University and the Office of Residence Life.  As a BOG Scholar, I serve as a mentor to two Bloomsburg University freshmen to help them become involved in the university and the community of Bloomsburg.

HC: What would it mean to you if you became elected?JS: To be elected would give me the utmost gratitude.  I have been a part of CGA for three years and it has become a part of who I am. I have gained most of my leadership knowledge from CGA and have become friends with several other members who work within the organization. I would be appreciative to serve as Treasurer my senior year and would work hard to make a positive impact for the students of Bloomsburg University.

HC: What are some of your goals for CGA if you become elected?JS: One goal I have is to review some of the financial and budgetary policies that are in place now.  I believe some of the policies could be updated and revised.  Another goal is to create better communication with student clubs and organizations to assist them in the best possible way.  One last goal I have for CGA is to have students become involved on campus.
