It’s a little after Mid-semester and Finals are going to be here before you know it! Are you beginning to feel overwhelmed? Do you find yourself staring at a book that you’re supposed to be on page 50 of when you’re on page 3? Is that group project or presentation giving you anxiety? Give yourself a break. Here are some simple ways to take the stress away!

Take a bath
There is nothing that relaxes your body more than a hot bath. Light some candles and let the warm water relax every muscle in your body. You might even want to bring that book you have to read for class in with you. Or study for your test. It’s a different atmosphere other than a library cubby or your bed where half of the time you end up taking a nap instead of actually reading anyway.

Turn off your phone for an hour
It may seem like the end of the world, but turning off your phone can seriously help you focus on school. If you’re with your roommates trying to do work, turn off your phones and trade them so you’re not tempted to turn them back on. Constantly looking down at your phone is bad for your eyes and your neck and it can cause bad headaches making it even harder to focus on work. It sounds like torture, but believe me, one hour without texting, tweeting, Instagraming and Pinning won’t kill you!

Take a walk
Going to the Rec and exercising is an awesome way to release pent up energy and stress. However, if you don’t have time for that in your day, a simple walk will do the trick. Although it’s getting a little chilly, it is still nice enough to walk outside in Bloom at this time of year. The beautiful Susquehanna River is only about a mile away and it makes for a really peaceful walk with friends. If you need that alone time, walk with your iPod and take in the fall scenery. Although Bloom can seem like a prison at times, if you actually take a chance to look around its really a beautiful place in the fall.

Wash your face
If you don’t have time for a long break from your work and find yourself losing focus, washing your face wakes you up and makes you feel ready for the day. When you’re feeling groggy and that bed is calling your name but you know you have work to do, washing your face is a quick way to perk up and get in the mood to finish that two-page paper that’s due tomorrow. Even if it’s in the middle of the day, it will help a lot. One brand that really wakes me up is Clean & Clear’s deep action exfoliating scrub. It has tiny little exfoliating beads in it to take all the dead skin off of your face and also it leaves a cooling sensation that feels amazing. Its refreshing and so quick and easy.

Detox your body
Partying every weekend and eating poorly leaves our bodies feeling tired, and when we are tired we don’t want to do our work and when we don’t do our work we get stressed. In order to de-stress your body from a long weekend of poor eating, try a detox drink.  Drinking a lot of water throughout the day improves your health and immune system. There are so many yummy detox drinks that you can look up on Pinterest. If you don’t have a Pinterest account, GET ONE! If you love lemon water and mint, then here is a recipe you might want to try.

  • Detox water
2 lemons, 1/2 cucumber, 10-12 mint leaves and 3 quarts water refrigerated overnight.
It will leave you feeling energized and ready to face that dreaded Monday morning class!
