5 Easy to Make at Home Beauty Treatments to be Your Most Beautiful Self

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Don’t even step out of the door because you don’t need to head to your nearest CVS for any of this. You can look and feel beautiful with products that are just lounging around your home. There are thousands of various recipes and concoctions, but here are just a few that I enjoy!

  • If you’re looking to give your hair some strength and health I’d recommend this 1-2 hour-long hair mask.  Seventeen recommends using 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, ¼ an avocado, 2 tablespoons olive oil and a small handful of conditioner. Mix it all up and let it sit until you’ve got yourself amazingly shiny and strong strands.
  • Like most people, there are times when your skin just seems to be a non-stop oily mess. Marie Claire recommends this “breakfast” themed mask to help fight the oil. All it includes is an egg yolk, a tablespoon of honey, a tablespoon of olive oil, and half a cup of oatmeal (feel free to eat the other half for breakfast). Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse and moisturize. Its not complicated and super simple.
  • With winter here and wind blowing in your face and the chilling temperatures constantly dropping it is no wonder that lips become so dry and chapped. One blogger from Love + Yoga suggests this amazing scrub! This lip remedy includes 1 tablespoon organic raw coconut oil (love the smell), 3 teaspoons organic coarse sugar, 1 teaspoon honey, and 5 drops of essential oils (peppermint is suggested, especially for an amazing smell and fresh feel). It can be kept in the fridge or even the shower!
  • We all have those days where it seems our faces are covered in pimples and marks. This extremely easy recipe from Enkivillage only includes 2 ingredients. One table spoon of aloe vera gel and four tablespoons of honey applied to your face for 20 minutes will assist in reducing inflammation, easing redness, and killing the bad bacteria on your skin.
  • And I’ve left the simplest item for last. I know that a lack of sleep and busy work days can have a profound affect on your appearance, and especially when it comes to puffy, tired looking eyes. If you have iced green tea, make a batch, soak some cotton rounds and leave them on your eyes (closed) for just a little while.  Because green tea has caffeine and antioxidants, it is good for shrinking the look of blood vessels as well as getting rid of inflammation.
