William and Kate Expecting the Next Royal Baby

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

There is already this universal competition about who the cutest baby is, and the race for it is getting pretty close between North West and Prince George, but will this next royal infant take the crown? Yes, that’s right. The style savvy Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant again! The most idolized couple in the world, Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 32, already welcomed their first child last July, and the boy is stealing the world’s hearts one overall outfit at a time. So do we think Kate’s about to pop out another prince or will we finally see a new princess? We’ve even heard that Prince Charles, the soon to be royal infant’s grandfather, is in fact rooting for a girl as well. William’s father gave an interview to U.S. weekly saying, “No, it’s wonderful. We are very happy. It’s splendid, very exciting. I hope it will be a girl this time.” If it is a girl, we can only imagine the outfits that the princess would be sporting. Her royal hats alone would give even Suri Cruise a run for her money.

But if we remember back to Kate’s first pregnancy it certainly was no fairytale. Our favorite duchess faced vicious morning sickness with George and it seems like the symptoms are back for baby number two. Numerous sources are reporting that Kate has already cancelled certain events due to her illness. The mother-to-be has had to miss her brother-in-law Harry’s launch events for New Zealand’s Invictus Games this past week. Our favorite red headed Prince has even spoke out about Kate saying, “I can’t wait to see my brother suffer more. If it’s a girl, he’ll suffer even more. I’d love to see him try and cope with that.” Typical brotherly love from Britain’s most eligible bachelor! Harry mentioned his sister-in-law saying, “The last time I saw her, she was okay. Feeling pretty poorly, but I think that’s to be expected. Luckily I’m not a woman so I don’t have to go through that. It’s a pretty horrible thing.”

So what is making Kate’s morning sickness so bad? Well, it actually has a name: (a long and unpronounceable one, but nonetheless there is a name for it) Hyperemesis Gravidarum. This disease affects between 0.2 and 2 percent of pregnant women in developed countries. Basically, it induces severe nausea and vomiting – much worse than the average women’s morning sickness. But we know that Kate, being her strong willed and fierce self, that she can overcome anything. So now we wait, counting down the days for the next royal baby. This newborn already has quite the challenge living up to his/her brother’s irresistible cuteness. While we anxiously wait… we might as well take in Prince George’s adorableness.
