True Life: We’re Transfers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Coming from huge schools, UCONN and UNH we got the “ real college experience.” Life here at Bentley is different….but so far so good.

The top three differences between going from 18,000+ students to 4,264 according to two blondes….

1. We thought were in pretty good shape, I mean we go on gym dates (occasionally but still!), but we have never climbed more goddamn stairs in our lives. That’s not even the worst part, we are absolutely drenched in sweat after, and all chances of looking halfway decent are gone. We better have killer legs and bodacious booties for all of the shirts we sweat through, makeup that runs off and funny looks we get while gasping for air when we get to the top.

2. It seems as if, if you don’t wear J.Crew or something Kate Spade then you don’t fit in. We came to Bentley knowing that it was preppy, but SERIOUSLY, who the heck puts on real clothes to go to class?  Last year we lived in leggings, sneakers, and a sweatshirt or flannel and vest. We were one in a million girls wearing that outfit and it was oh so normal. Here you are the only girl for miles in that outfit, and we’re pretty sure students think we’re homeless invading campus.

Last year dressing up was putting on “real pants” and here GIRLS WEAR HEELS TO CLASS. Like that can’t be comfortable! If you see a couple of blonde hobos walking around campus together, chances are it’s us.

3. Going from parties where no guys were let in that ended up with 84,729,742,987 girls in a basement of a frat house… to this. Sometimes we don’t even see other girls for hours at a time when we are out. It’s bizarre. 60-40 doesn’t sound like that much but WHAT THE HECK. I mean I’m single so I don’t hate it but still! How does one meet girls here?! ALSO WHY do guys think if you even look in their direction that you are automatically interested in them??!!? Bent boys are definitely better than the classic big school frat boy but it’s just a very different vibe around the hookup culture- everyone knows who you hook up with, when and apparently if you just kiss another boy a different weekend, that’s slutty

Sometimes we forget we’re sophomores! Sounds stupid but when you are taking IT101, GB110, and GB112, living in freshman housing, and being the  “new kids”, it’s hard to figure out where you fit. But hey we are working on it and looking good doing it.

Long story short even with the huge differences between our last schools and here…
