Spring is here and we’re faced with the ultimate question: go to class or go to the greenspace?
It’s so nice out, and you can’t possibly see yourself sitting in Jennison for the next hour and fifteen minutes. But don’t lose motivation just yet! There’s a little over a month left so keep your head up! And how do I suggest you do this? Set goals for yourself that will keep you inspired to succeed and of course give yourself a little reward afterwards.
Start with goals for school. After all, it’s why we’re here in the first place.
Here are a few tips on how to stay focused once you set your goals:
Stay Organized
It’s easy to forget an assignment, so I suggest making use of that planner your mom got you way back in September. Write your assignments down and the day they’re due.
Set Enough Time for School and Fun
You want an even balance, so after your 12:45 class, try doing your homework on the greenspace. You’ll get some natural vitamin D while learning a few things.
Get Social
Making time for your friends will keep you sane and happy through finals season. We have about a month until finals, and if you’re like me, you’re overwhelmed with school, work and any extracurricular activities. I always find time for my friends. Be a little spontaneous – if you have free time, then go get dinner with your friends. Especially with finals approaching, your life doesn’t have to be all about the studies.
Plan Your Time Well
Aim for time with your friends once every day so you don’t run yourself down. Make time for going out too, at least once a weekend. I’m a firm believer in play time, no matter how busy you are.
Get Healthy
Whether you’re going to the gym, eating better, or just have time to breathe, relaxation is key in staying motivated. If you’re struggling with staying focused on schoolwork, try putting your energy towards the gym. Everyone makes it their new year’s resolution, but usually forgets about it by February. Maybe now’s the time to pick it back up. Make time for the gym three days a week, and think of it as preparing for the summer.
If the gym isn’t your thing maybe just eating better will help you stay positive. I know Seasons isn’t very ideal on healthy selections, but even just a simple turkey and cheese sandwich is better than pizza and fries.
Take Time for Yourself
Finally, one of the biggest motivations for myself is simply having “me time.” This is that one time in my day that isn’t planned out and that isn’t scheduled with work or class. Just one hour for myself to just chill and go with the flow. That alone helps me stay focused and proceed with my day.
