Spring Into DIY This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Have you ever been interested in any of the DIY projects you see on sites like Pinterest, but weren’t sure what to do or where to start? Well, this spring is a perfect time to get started. These are a few of my favorite spring time DIY’s that are simple, fun, and perfect to do in a dorm room!

1.    Citrus Salt Scrub

It’s that time of year when the sun starts to come out, but most of us have that lasting pale skin from the harsh New England weather. If you’re like me and like to do some self-tanning in the spring before the time comes to tan out on the Greenspace, this face scrub will come in handy. You use it before you put on your self-tanner to exfoliate the skin, which helps to avoid any streaks or an uneven tan; not cute! As a bonus, after, your face will feel silky and smooth. Give it a try!

2.    Desktop Wipe Board

As we near the end of the semester and get closer to that dreaded time of finals, it can be hard to stay organized. That’s why I love this spin off of a normal dry erase board. You can add a cute and customized touch to your dorm room with very little supplies and effort.

3.   iPhone/iPod Charging Pocket

This little pocket to hold your device while is charging is simply adorable. The plugs are never in the right spot in dorm rooms and this very simple DIY craft is perfect. I only wish I thought of this earlier!

4.    Spring-time Decorations for Apps

Continue to deck-out your device with this app that allows you to change the main menu design of your apps and backgrounds. It takes a little time, but it’s a great way to take a study break and well worth it. Now my phone looks spring ready!

5.    Pretty Spring Pedicures

As college students, money can be tight and pedicures can sometimes make their way to the bottom of the priority list. But, spring is approaching and pretty soon it will be time to break out the sandals after a long winter in boots. Here are some great tips on how to give yourself a pedicure and adorable ideas to spice up your toes! I love the Glitter idea!

6.    Heart Ring

This may look not look like much, but I’m a lover of rings and always looking for creative new styles. This is so easy and allows you to be super creative. You don’t have to do the heart idea either! Branch out and make something unique!

7.    Hippy Headphones

Friendship bracelets always start to appear as summer approaches, but here’s an idea to take that left over string and jazz up your headphones!

8.    Spring Time Scrub

Become your own beautician! Not only is this body scrub gorgeous, but the mixture of sugar, almond oil, rose petals, and coconut is simply amazing. It is the perfect natural remedy for solving the dry skin problem of winter. It pretty too, so it can serve as a decoration!

9.    Cinched Tote

Turn a plain, cheap white tote into a cute and casual bag this spring. You can use it to carry your books up to class and ditch the Bentley backpacks. The possibilities are endless and the embellishments can be changed with the season with this cinched tote DIY from Teen Vogue!

10.  Statement Necklace

Everyone is talking about statement necklaces these days and I went on the hunt multiple times to find the right one. I found this DIY and think it’s a great idea to get just what you’re looking for. Just find the plain necklace and you customize it to your liking! What a great addition to a spring-time wardrobe.

These are my favorites, but the beauty of DIY is that you can modify, customize, and design whichever way you want!
