When a new semester starts, there are many feelings associated with it that range from happiness and excitement to stress and being overwhelmed. Here are some tips to help keep balance in your life as you begin another semester.

  • Keep your goals in mind: Sometimes it can be easy to get caught up in the moment and have a narrow focus on a situation, but when you have your goals in front of you they can help motivate you to keep moving forward.
  • Time management: It is easy to fall into procrastination and lose motivation at the beginning of the semester once you have gotten a multitude of syllabi thrown your way. Managing your time well can help mitigate procrastination and will help you stay productive throughout the semester.
  • Try something new: Especially if you are a junior or senior in college, a new semester may feel like every other one and you may have already fallen into your typical routine. College is a great time to break out of your comfort zone and try something new, on or off campus.
  • Self-care: This is a topic that is widely talked about and sometimes it seems to come in the form of face masks and relaxation but this does not have to be the case. Caring for yourself involves multiple aspects including your social, physical, and mental health. Take time to find activities and habits to help strengthen yourself throughout the semester.
