The fashion industry suffered a major loss this past week with the passing of world-renowned fashion designer, Oscar de la Renta. De la Renta passed away at the age of 82, he had battled cancer back in 06’ and rumors of the designer being ill recently resurfaced. De la Renta’s designs can be seen all over magazines, both celebrities and First Lady’s alike have donned some of his amazing pieces. Recently he designed the wedding dress of Amal Almuddin, George Clooney’s now wife. De la Renta truly respected and admired womankind, only making the gifted designer even more successful in his career. In honor of the fashion icon, here are some of his designs as well as notable quotes.

1. “Work hard. Believe in yourself. It’s not the publicity that sells the clothes, it’s the woman.”

Cameron Diaz simply glows in this strapless, jeweled gown worn on the red carpet for the 82nd Annual Oscars.

2.“The great thing about fashion is that it always moves forward.”

The stripe design of this dress wowed on the runway with its simplicity and beauty, who doesn’t love a black and white combo.
